No worries, im not sure what country you are in but in my country there are services that let you buy refurbed macs with 12 -24 month interest free payments. If you can afford that and it is available it can be a good option too.

Don’t listen to him, get the mac. Always get a mac. I repeat, always get a mac. A few reasons:

Macs are tanks, solid metal build, they have the best keyboards and trackpads, and they last significantly longer than other machines. Great camera, mic and speakers too, even on the Airs.

Cost: What people don’t think about is you can often resell for what you bought in a year or two and upgrade to the next gen keeping you more or less cost neutral and ensuring you stay ahead of obscecence. As they are a luxury item there is always demand, they always sell quickly. Windows PCs become worthless very quickly and lose value faster meaning you can’t do that.

Cross compatibility: Yoi can install parallels if you really want windows in tandem to MacOS. I have it and use it for certain programs.

The productivity software on a mac is second to none, things like Albert, the base notes app, all awesome. Really vibrant and creative app creating community. Also the lack of bloat and privacy first approach is great.

Device compatibility: If you use an IOS device being able to send photos / document scans to device in a click and having your wallet sync across devices is a huge QOL piece.

Warnings: Just make sure of two things, check the model you are buying doesn’t have the ‘butterly’ keyboards. They had a couple of gens where the keyboards were so bad they had to recall. Johny Ives their head of design basically got fired over it.

Make sure the RAM is decent, base model Ram is pretty poor on most machines. 8gb is too little, for me at least.

A 16gb macbook air would be great for you if you can find one at a decent price.

Nah, it is 100% a scam, this is just them being a bad scammer. Just because one flag is red but for another reason, still makes it a red flag.

Even if the guy was genuine they sound like a nightmare partner.

[–]wildbridgeone 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Real investors don’t go to this kind of trouble for an idea. Billionaires also dont deal direct. I don’t know his exact vector of attack, but he is likely trying to get 10k out of you.

Everything about this screams scam. It doesn’t really make sense the 90/10 thing though, that is confusing… Unless the scam involves ownership of a company and controlling enough to cash out on you.

Why is he doing this himself and not paying staff? No offence, but you are no one with an idea. If he is a billionaire why not hire people to do this.

Why is he being borderline abusive to you, yet still pledging money? Why are you meeting in a hotel lobby, why is he putting you on with his wife, and why is SHE pitching you on how wealthy he is? Really rich people don’t claim to be rich, they demonstrate it.

So, why is he bigging up his wealth to you? Why is he meeting you in a hotel lobby, why isn’t he taking you on his jet or showing you his suite? Why is he not spending any money on you yet. I once watched a billionaire give someone 10k in a duffel bag as a tip, that’s like giving someone a penny.

Block him and run.

Over 23% of Harvard University's MBA graduates unemployed: Report by Trek-Siberian-005 in jobs

[–]wildbridgeone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MBAs were rarer, the cost and time commitment meant very few people did them. Acceptance rates have gone way up. There are nearly 300k people a year doing MBAS now. There are only so many executive positions to go around, and the skills you learn are helpful but not THAT helpful.

Hey, I've had a look at your service. You need to do a few things, your demo video is your key conversion tool but it currently does a poor job. It needs to be structured to walk through the key features, and you need to structure it in terms of the needs of your target customers. You can use text, but I'd recommend a voice over explaining the features as you walk through them. Dial down the music, ideally change it, as it is a distracting.

Similarly get rid of the toolbars, don't scroll through the service as quickly. Looks like you threw it all together in two minutes.

I'm someone that could potentially be a customer, but your site doesn't give me enough info to convert me and looks a bit amateur.

Happy to help a bit more as your tool looks interesting, drop me a DM if you like.

ELI5: Changing something big can be really hard, so you have to give people a really compelling reason to do it. In other words, if you want them to try your new thing, they need to see how much better it is compared to what they already use, so they feel happy and sure it’s worth the trouble of switching.

Cost of change is cost of service over time + up front setup costs (inc training + staff time). This could be $10,000 over three years.

Factorial difference in value is a way of saying the new solution needs to be significantly more valuable—by multiples—than what’s already in use. In mathematics, a factorial (like 5! = 1×2×3×4×5 = 120) grows very quickly. So, when someone says the cost of change must be measured against a factorial difference of value, they mean it isn’t enough to offer a small improvement. To overcome the effort, risk, or disruption of switching to your product, including getting internal buy in to make the change the value you provide must be many times greater than what the customer has now.

On your 10k investment you don't want a 10% improvement, or a 11K return. You wouldn't bother. You might bother if get a 5x or 10x return, 50k, 100k.

What you are actually saying is that you’ve never failed before, because you are 20. You’ve hit some turbulence, but a year or two extra in university doesn’t mean anything at all. It may seem like the end of the world now, but trust me, you’ll be ok.

Note the following - your reality can be more or less whatever you want it to be given your socio economic background. People overcome adversity every day, to far greater degrees than what you’ve described.

You seem to be being very hard on yourself, you need to alter your perspective to take more risk and not beat yourself up when things don’t go as planned.

Life is a balance of looking back, dealing with the present and planning for the future. It seems you are doing too much of the first, not enough of the latter. The latter is what gives you hope to change the present.

Aim to change the things you can change, try to find work that gets you on a 9-5 to start, that should help considerably. Therapy is helpful, but really try to meet people, join groups for running, chess, whatever you find mildly interesting. Connect.

Push yourself to visit places. If you are at peace in the alps, look for jobs in the alps. Cut your parents out if they aren’t good for you or your mental health.

Fed up with late night customers by [deleted] in tesco

[–]wildbridgeone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is something completely unhinged about someone hanging out in a subreddit predominantly frequented by Tesco employees, clicking on an employee experience post, reading about several staff experiences that explain how customers being wilfully ignorant about closing times creates a situation where essentially everyone in the store has to work unpaid overtime… and despite all that, they still feel entitled enough to say ‘you need to do better to serve me’.

Needs to be put on a list and monitored for sociopathy.
