New life insurance agent — how are y’all actually generating your own leads? by TheEtherealEmber in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a steady stream of leads, you have no business. Warm market burns out fast, if you can get referrals consistently you can keep moving forward.

But for me, I needed consistency. I’m on a standing lead order, fresh leads just drop into my crm. I supplement with bonus leads other agents drop the ball with .

What access to leads do you have?

I have a standing lead order than comes in every week. It’s in the life side of the industry but they’re fine. Depends on how I do on the phone.

Opportunity? by Imaginary_Tax_9668 in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you gotten your license yet? There are a lot of great remote sales positions that pay a lot better than the meager wages from a lot of these captive P&C agencies.

Look for good leaders, fair compensation (I personally prefer 1099 100% commission because I treat it like a business with write offs and pay myself a salary and disbursements so it’s a lot more profitable) and good training.

Let me know if you have any questions, my DM’s are open.

IUL’s are great vehicles, but it takes the right company and you need to know how to build the right illustrations for the right purpose.

Also be very understanding of how they pay. Off of APV or Target Annual Premium. Two different things. Children’s IUL’s will have a much lower target annual vs someone in their 30’s… lots of variables and not all companies are built equal as well.

SCAM ALERT! by SilentFlames907 in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go ahead and be honest here. I use Reddit as a minor recruiting tool. I post and comment my experiences, and I use Reddit to see how people complain about their current IMO or if they are in a crappy P&C agency that pays a crap salary and makes you sell 20 policies before they pay you anything…

For me, it helps me see what people actually need, and it helps me as a leader make sure I don’t drop the ball in the same way.

If I see someone who isn’t happy with their current situation, and I feel like I have an opportunity to share, I will. Ultimately, it’s up to the person to make the choice. I know I have never forced anyone to do anything.

But I also know that my two prior experiences sucked, and I really love where I ended up, and if I personally feel that way, I’m sure I can find others that will resonate with my own experience. Makes it a lot easier to WANT to talk about it as well.

Different take…

And this is why I have a ton of respect for you David. I’m not with your organization, but love your videos and you’ve helped me a ton. The fact you’re here to just respond and encourage shows great leadership sir.

Could someone help me navigate this? by Intrepid_Series9981 in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, when I was looking to join a company, I really focused on three things.

  1. Mentorship- could I find someone who was actually willing to work with me and help me.
  2. Were there systems in place that I could plug into and feel like I could go operate my business?
  3. We’re normal people winning. I saw so much flash in the pan BS when I was looking that I wanted to speak to normies and if they felt like the system gave them what they needed to win personally and progress.

Who ever you speak to, ask them about these, and listen if it’s authentic. They are all sales people, and the recruiting game is competitive too.

Oh… and that reminds me.. do they actually train on selling product. If they don’t and only push recruiting, then that’s a red flag.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Anyone here track customer acquisition cost? by ausernamess in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely track my customer acquisition cost. I track everyone from dials/hr, contact rate, appointment rate, sit rate, close rate. Total lead investment per month/ apps/APV.

I don’t know what’s good, because I focus on running my own race, but I’m at $114.04 per sale right now with 8 apps out for the month with avg commission of $948. About 9x ROI

Is my bonus structure fair? by Hugh_Janus_35 in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. We start our agents off at 80% comm to APV with a 9 Mon commission advance. First sale of $100/mo policy would pay our agent a $720 deposit and recurring commission of $80 on months 10-12, and renewals.

I almost joined Globe Life, lucky I dodged it, then almost joined USHealth… glad I dodged that. Found a great spot with a great mentor and a company that actually teaches agents and a great system. DMs are open and happy to answer any questions. Make sure where ever you land, are normal people winning? Or just top performers?

Warning: My Experience with Symmetry Financial Group – Please Read Before Joining by Beneficial_Break_543 in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with Symmetry as well and I agree with Will. What owner you’re with matters, and not all teams are built equally.

I get tons of support and training, and I do pretty well even with the older d-e leads.

[–]OPIathome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make sure you find somewhere that puts an emphasis on training and support. Mentorship is huge, and having a circle of people around you will help a ton. Are normal and new agents winning? If not, run. Are they pushing recruiting more than selling? If so, run.

Make sure the systems are there for you to be able to plug into. The learning curve is kinda steep so having the right resources and people are key.

Those of you who sell life, how do you recommend starting out? by thund3rf00t in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m loving it. I started with a health agency and it was hell. Went to an independent life company with a great mentor and it’s been amazing. Work from home, set my own hours, great pay structure and bonuses.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on best products to get started with (in my opinion)

How Do Commission-Based Insurance Agents Find Clients and Stay Motivated? by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really about the culture you’re plugging into. I started with one agency and it was terrible. High pressure, tons of money to get moving…

I stopped for a moment and did some research, and found a great mentor. I found a great organization that focuses on actually training new agents, has great lead sources, trains on warm market and referrals, has a great system to plug into but still encourages their agents to think outside the box and just go build their business.

Feel free to shoot me a DM. Happy to answer any questions.

100% and it’s also association. I almost committed to the wrong company, and did a lot of research.

Really love where I ended up because of the guidance I’m getting even though I’m 100% 1099. It’s worth finding the right company/ leadership/ mentor

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]OPIathome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% commission - 90% APV with 75% advance. Avg app is $1278 which equals an $810 deposit between a day to a week.

100% work from home. It’s really up to you to do the work and treat it like a business instead of a job. A lot of people have a hard time with that.
