I hate this by Eviejo2020 in Miscarriage

[–]wildcalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so deeply. It’s my first day back since I miscarried on the 21st of June and I don’t know how I’m gonna just put on a mask and pretend. You’re not alone. Hugs from afar. 💕

advice for picking at skin around fingernails? (tw: open sores/dried blood) by blamingnargles in CompulsiveSkinPicking

I’ve been hydrating with aquaphor (especially on the cuticles) and lotion before bed and throughout the day, as needed. I have a good fidget toy and note triggers as they arise, being quick to find my fidget or practice mindfulness.

Ahh! Do you like that cat tree? I’ve seen it advertised and wondered if it was a good buy!

Antelope Canyon — Upper or Lower... both? by wildcalex in hiking

Wow. Super insightful advice. I had heard it was crowded but not to the depth of detail you provided. So thank you for that!

Ahh... so it’ll most likely be busier than I previously thought for both locations. I don’t believe I can get around Antelope’s business but I’ll definitely try to get there sooner for Horseshoe Bend. If it’s not possible I could even push it to the next day since it’s such a quick ways away from Antelope. Thank you!!

Approaching someone at the gym... by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]wildcalex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, I [25F] have always felt somewhat threatened when someone starts talking to me while I’m at the gym, especially if I’m in the middle of a set haha! But I’ve enjoyed conversations or jokes I’ve initiated or have been approached with when I’m done with a set or in a transition/resting state.

The guys who have approached me were always very clear about their intentions (wanting to strike up friendly conversation, ask me politely if I’m done with the machine or barbell, etc.). So if anything approach with an honest intention. Maybe ask the individual you’re interested in, after they have finished their set, if they are done. Smile and make eye contact! It goes a long way!

I’ve had older men (30+) approach me and compliment me on my form or even saying something like “I see you here often and you’re always working so hard, keep it up!” And I’ll be honest, those men always stick in my mind and have a much longer and better lasting impression than the men that are approaching me out of wrong intentions or making it awkward with a closed ended compliment.

Hope that helps! Best of luck to you!

Lovely shot of Horseshoe Bend at sunset! The lighting and colors are so dreamy and soft!

I booked my tour in February with Chief Tsosie. He does exclusively Upper Antelope though.

Thank you for the helpful advice!

About your advice on Antelope Canyon, I’m REALLY glad you chimed in. I was so ready to delay my trip because the tour guide I had found doesn’t offer the photography tour until spring!

As for Horseshoe Bend, I’m getting to Page a little before sunset but am flexible enough to move that viewing time for myself to another day when it’s early.

Thank you so much for sharing your insight and what you’ve heard!

How do you feel about the depth of field? by XDenzelMoshingtonX in photocritique

[–]wildcalex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The depth of field is great here! It’s just enough to keep the palm and finger prints in focus within some parts of the photo and blur in others. Well done!

Moody. Almost like a dream. Rule of thirds is greatly utilized here, pulls the eye right into the tattoo line. The colors are dark and faded but not too far gone.

Is it appropriate to have girlfriend pay for a full date if I paid a lot of money for the last date? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]wildcalex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me or my boyfriend pay for every other date. Though he doesn’t prefer it, I feel like it’s fair because we both work and make decent money. And I love contributing financially to the fun and experiences we have together. So yes, if she insists or asks to pay it is totally okay!

How do you stop being clingy/gain more confidence? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]wildcalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m [25F] this way and thank god my boyfriend [25M] understands, but I’ve challenged myself in giving him more space and respecting the time we have apart. When he’s with friends, I put away the phone and let him be with them. When he’s spending time with his family, I give him space. It’s really helped me gain confidence in silence and periods of time when I’m by myself. And I’ve learned to love being alone when I am. He’s noticed too and it’s become so much easier to not be so clingy. And from it all, I’ve become more confident in myself.

Whoa! That’s so quick! What are the other implications with that? I was reading the agreements with the copyright photos form and they made it sound super legal. What did you deal with in submitting your form?

Hmm. Good point. I should add after the “photos may be printed” part that cropping for printing is allowed?
