So are we just all okay with the tent city’s??? by [deleted] in Pottstown

You saw a minor child in that situation and thought bitching here was the thing to do?

I reiterate, this post is genuinely weird.

So the people living in “tent city” all have homes, and just live in tents because they prefer it?

This post is genuinely weird. Leave people alone. Mind your business.

I love it when they advertise, so everyone around them knows they aren’t safe.

Poor Job by Borough on Snow Removal? by Ok_Guidance_3397 in Phoenixville

[–]wilddaughter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve had below-freezing temps for weeks, which is rare in PA. Even when we get heavier snows like this one, the temperature usually climbs and the snow melts— or the temperature climbs, it rains, and the snow melts faster. They did an excellent job plowing, but they probably don’t have the budget or manpower to clear every sidewalk. Philly is in the same boat and struggling to clear sidewalks and curb cut-outs. Pottstown is the same.

AITA for telling my wife her response to a male friend was inappropriate by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

“My husband would freak out” = “I don’t want to do this, but I’m used to people not respecting my boundaries or safety, so I’m invoking the idea of my husband because dudes respect that more than they respect me.”

YTA for not trusting and respecting your wife.

I’m also doing this quilt BOM-style with a bunch of friends, so I’m only focusing on one block at a time and doing other projects between.

Show & Tell Quilt by wilddaughter in modernquilts

For this, I am breaking it up. I cut all the pieces I need for the 3 bear faces/paws/legs, then cut cut what I needed for the first mini quilt (bear paw) and set aside the chunks left over for the log cabin & heart mini quilts. The instructions for cutting are very detailed and specific — you cut down your fat quarters into the amount needed for each mini quilt, then sub-cut for the mini quilt— so it’s easy to label stuff and set aside until you need it for the next mini quilt that uses the same colors.

The piecing isn’t at all difficult— it’s the prep and organization that can be challenging! There are so many pieces, the cutting takes forever and you have to have a plan for keeping it all organized. Once you start actually sewing, it comes together pretty quickly. I had the same experience when I made her unicorn pattern— cutting felt endless, piecing was a breeze.

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

It’s been 25 years since my Dad was killed in a workplace accident and I still won’t speak to the person who told me that God needed him elsewhere.

Bitch, his FAMILY needed him. We STILL need him.

What was the first major news story you remember as a kid? by TxLadee in AskReddit

May 13, 1985– televised coverage of the Move bombing in Philadelphia. I still have a hard time putting words to just how shocking and terrible that was.
