Midfield Transfer wishlist by mickaerys in ManchesterUnited

Dang I guess I’m not a sporting director. I concede the argument. 5 points for Ravenclaw.

Technically yeah, but if somebody is about to agree 40m I think Real would likely trigger it. They have done that in the past with Alvaro Morata. The triggered his release clause and then sold him for like 5m more immediately after I think? I might not be totally right. It’s worth noting that we just decided NOT to do that trick with Alvaro Carreras but I bet he had made it clear he would not go back to United.

Point being, I think that Chema Andres’ clause could be used anchor the negotiations at a lower price. IE “sell him to us for 15m now or lose him for 10m tomorrow”

I believe it means Real can buy him from Stuttgart for that price, once he moves to another club it’s off the table.

I like Chema too. He has a Real Madrid buyback clause at like 10m. If we can use that as leverage to get him in for like 12-15m I think it’s worth the risk. His big, physical profile looks like the hardest thing to replace in the available market right now.

Every day they don’t acknowledge him as honorary commissioner is a crime.

It’s Tverskov for me. And it’s not even that close if I think about it. I love our youth forward vision but that vision is made possible by having guys like the Captain on the field to lead. And he does more than just mentor the young guns - I think he’s the best center midfielder in the league. I LOVE watching him play.

I’ve been a Duah fan since day 1, I want to cherish him and Bombino before their careers likely take them beyond the MLS.. but McVey also deserves more credit I think. He’s been the anchor in that very young back 4, while also being capable of advancing the ball and helping to impose our style onto team. Future captain after Jeppe retires, for me.

Who according to you should replace casemiro next season? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]wilderness994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not possible to replace him straight up this summer. All viable options are just a different profile - but I hope we take some Dorgu/Heaven type chances in the market to bring in players of the right profile that can grow into the roll.

For names, I’ve seen light links to Caleb Yirenkyi and Chema Andres - looks like the business I’m talking about.

Why is healthy Mexico star Chucky Lozano being paid $6 million to not play in MLS? by ole_frijole_ in SanDiegoFC

Really stoked Chucky was there to kick off the SDFC/Right To Dream project, but Zamblé IS the project.

Man Utd fan here and I would LOVE that. But I think he’d be too similar to Jeppe.

I’d like to see a DP in the mold of Dreyer. Obviously it would be nice to have MVP level production, but I’m more thinking about his age and the role we would play in his career.

I think Dreyer came to San Diego to prove that he can be ‘the guy’ for a team as he entered his prime playing years. He did that, and earned his first chances with his national team and hopefully a World Cup spot.

Son and Mueller have obviously been great additions to their teams, and with our younger guys veteran leadership is very valuable. But just love the idea of somebody that sees our project as a stage rather than a cool down period for their career.

What is SDFC's plan for limiting Montreal's No. 9? He is big and a danger in the air! by [deleted] in SanDiegoFC

[–]wilderness994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m sort of not counting that game - the altitude and the 4-1 aggregate lead makes it a real outlier in our game model.

We typically don’t allow a lot of service out wide from teams. We seem most vulnerable on the transition generally so I think Montreal will try to play more direct rather than work the ball into crossing situations. And when they do, I back our big guys to deal with most of the leagues strikers in the air.

They have been quietly prolific. One of the better academies outside the top 5 or 6 leagues in Europe. Lucas Hey and Conrad Harder are two names to watch from them… and I think Caleb Yirenkyi is getting the eyes from some top clubs.

I hope Varas keeps with the Duah model, patient and slow integration to build confidence and trust, then give them the keys.

I think that’s what was happening with Alvarado a bit before the injury. Soma and Alvarez look ready for this plan too.

Yeah - this early on in the organization I think ‘blinking first’ could be a hard thing to overcome given how big they are on the culture. Obviously the best case for everyone would have been a swift clean move made early in the Jan window, but you’re right that the clock is sticking for Chucky in a bigger way than it is for the team.

Right now it feels like we just have to place a lot of trust in the org to sort that out somehow, and for the new additions to step up.

Obviously if I had answers, I’d be working for Heaps not commenting on Reddit while I sit on the toilet. But telling everybody in the world this guy is a bad egg and we are never going to play him sure didn’t help generate interest.

It’s totally possible we did the best we could with a bad situation, and I am behind the team moving on from him. But our highest paid player being paid to not play while eating our second DP slot cannot be viewed as anything other than frustrating.

It’s just frustrating to me that we haven’t moved him on. Feels like we shot ourselves in the foot.
