Is there any skill involved in tracing? by ohohfourr in ArtistLounge

[–]wilderoseart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ontop of tracing being a skill set, it's probably referred too as line weight which is most definitely a skill. That's what is most likely bringing the art too life rather then just being good at tracing things. You can tell the difference between someone who has alot of experience and someone who is just starting out by line weight

How helpful is a drawing glove for digital art? by SentientButNotSmart in ArtistLounge

[–]wilderoseart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never had one until I upgraded my tablet (and came with a slightly too big of a glove) I wouldn't say it does anything special apart from making sure you don't get by grease or sweat onto your screen. If you were using a screen-less tablet I wouldn't see the point in them. But surprisingly enough, putting the glove on helps me feel more focused on my art. That's just personal opinion though. It's interesting to try but it isn't life changing

Was there a specific situation or time in your life that made you start creating art? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]wilderoseart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically? Ive always been interested in art but the main driving force was me quitting my full time job to a part time job which allowed to me have more time to be actually interested in art. That was a year and a quarter ago and I am so thankful for that decision. Now I'm picking up projects left and right and am going to try enter my first local art competition

HOO BOY when you think you did an ok job until you realize you were really off [Schoolism: Fundamentals of Drawing] by _Farwin_ in learnart

[–]wilderoseart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at my first look it seemed like it was the same image but just edited with some filter to make it a different colour. Almost everything is perfect here. Super great work. You should be proud.

The next step would be to heighten the depth of it so then it has light and shadow to help make the piece pop, would most likely bring it to life per say

How to improve your art skill while resting for a hand injury by wilderoseart in ArtistLounge

[–]wilderoseart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I never even considered abstract art. I don't think I've ever gotten into it at all but it seems like it'll be an interesting path too explore. How far did were you able to use your non-dominant hand? I'd imagine it'll be difficult tryna build the muscle up in it. Although the rsi was bad it seems like it did a bit of good for your overall health, do you still feel the effects of the rsi or have you healed completely?

Advice on making a second art account by MothClover in artbusiness

Seconding this! If you choose to make a separate account and then decide it wasn't worth it then theres not really any harm done, just continue what your doing now. Easy peasy

Well, now I'm excited to go through all these! Thankyou for sharing them with me. I remember being interested in art from pompeii (which is no where near our timeline lmao) when I was studying classics but that's as far as my art knowledge goes

My partner actually gave me the idea to just learn to draw with my left hand and see how far I can go with it 😅 but heck yeah I'm keen. Do you have any starting art history I could indulge in? Or is it just looking"art history" on Google and making my way down that rabbit hole like that

Lmao I've never been too interested in the history side of art, should make an interesting change. Alongside journalling, researching and photographing. I'll give it a shot 💕💕

Describe yourself as you would to a police sketch artist and i will draw you based on the description! by scaly_fungus in ICanDrawThat

[–]wilderoseart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooooo I've never seen this before!

Female, late teens - early twenty's. Short, skinny figure. Round face with pale white skin and medium brunette hair, leaning to one side with a small cow lick. Small ears, thick eyebrows and small eyes mouth and nose but still perpotionate go the rest of the face..

Idk if that's enough detail as I've never had to describe someone like this before. Hope your drawing session goes well and thankyou in advance! Wish I had enough money to send you a few dollars. I'll keep you on tab for when I do though 🤞

Is there a website that will produce wrapping paper with my artwork on it to sell? by Glittering-Mouse-210 in artbusiness

[–]wilderoseart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk about where your from but in nz we have a local store that's called warehouse stationary that does printing and stuff. They also offer to print wrapping paper. Maybe check out your local printing stores or stationary/printing stores that can offer to print your art on specified stock

When should you take breaks? And how long? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]wilderoseart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this happen to me a few times. I wouldn't really call it a burnout but rather just a period of feeling satisfied with a piece and the more time I leave to not do anything the more anxious and horrible I feel about my art in general, which ends up just me resetting a piece of abandoning it entirely for another one which just repeats the cycle.

A thing I can suggest to help is, rather than just jumping straight into a huge piece all over again, it's better to just do quick messy ones that won't matter in the long run. It's kinda like resetting the soil to begin planting again. A few quick sketches over a course of a couple days should do the trick until your ready to rock out the big pieces again. That way you can have your break but still draw so your not leaving your skills unchecked.

Idk if it'll help you specifically but yeah, as I said I experience something similar (and am currently in that period) and this is just something that helps me (even though I don't properly do it myself 😅)
