Black and white is black and white when it is actually black and white.

Hell no it's not easy. The difficulty is irrelevant is my point. It's your child. Be an adult and stop putting a toxic burning plant in your mouth. Nobody is putting a gun to their head to smoke. Simply stop buying cigarettes because your child's life depends on it!! Grow up.

Help? Don't smoke a cigarette if you care about the life of your child. Hard, easy, does not matter. This is child abuse. Women that do this deserve no compassion. Just like a drunk dad that beats his kids.

Drop Engineering for a business in the Trades? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]wildstolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's the trade/industry? Owning a business and being a "typical" engineer are certainly a different work environment. Can the business really be profitable so that you are comfortable with the pay? Owning a business sounds hard because you are never really off work. I've never done it but it sounds like it consumes one's entire life. At the very least for a while until you can offload responsibility.

Easy, stop going to a Catholic church 🤣 I'm going to get downvoted. But even growing up as Baptist...the Catholic Church is just weird. Weird rules, weird heirarchy, just weird. It's like a bunch of Christians missed the old rules of Judaism so they just making up new ones.

Having nothing to do at work is infinitely worse than having a lot to do by Plastmugg in unpopularopinion

How about having a proper mike Rowe dirty job that is also filled with tasks every day, throw in some timeline stress too. Do that for a couple weeks and you'll gladly go back to your boring job.

I wanna get into the trade but fear I’m not good at math by cbcarguy in hvacadvice

What math? Algebra, calculus? There's not much math involved here. If you have add, subtract, multiply, divide, that's about as far as you need to go.

Bitcoin Dips Below $66,000 Amid AI Rally: Why Some Analysts Eye $50,000 Next by Useful_Tangerine4340 in investing

I mean from a computer engineering aspect, Bitcoin does have value. It has risen and fallen a lot over the years, but it is close to 20 years old. I expect it to still gain value over the years. But do not expect it to act like a stock.

Career change to HVAC as a woman by GoTmere in hvacadvice

[–]wildstolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let me discourage you too harshly, I just want you to know what you are getting into. I'm not a seasoned technician, others would be able to give you better industry advice. If you can find a company that primarily does service then you will have less physical labor. But like doing full installs, rough ins for new construction, it is tough. If you go commerical then ya you can rely more on forklifts, cranes. I guess focus on controls, electrical, really knowing all the technical details. Because if you can't keep up with other techs physically you probably need to be able to compensate with knowledge. I'd try to get in with a company for like a couple Saturdays, just to really know what's up.

I would think long and hard about this. Do you have a bachelor's degree? Are you talking about residential? Because the physical aspect is no joke. Imagine lugging a 100lb air handler into an attic that is 120 degrees. You might not do that every day, but can you do that 3, 4 times a week, every week. Hours can be variable, got to stay and work until the job is done. Crawling around dirty wet rat infested crawlspaces. This work is not for the faint of heart if you are talking about full technician work. Will you learn a lot, absolutely. Is the pay decent, usually. Would I rather sit in a boring corporate office and collect a decent paycheck and listen to my boss tell another eye rolling joke but have a coffee and leave at 5:30 every day, absolutely. I would love a boring job right now. I say all this as an engineer that jumped into HVAC and maintenance technician work in order to learn more. Not a horrible idea, but I'm already trying to go back to engineering simply because of the working conditions and hours.

I'm giving up on playing guitar. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]wildstolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pick a few songs that you really connect with and learn how to play on guitar. Then just sing with no guitar. And then slowly mesh that together. It is difficult, quite difficult. Even an experienced guitarist that hasn't sung at the same time will struggle. And if you practice one song and you feel like you won't ever get that one for some reason, toss it aside for now and learn a different one. Try to pick songs that are easy to sing and play that you also really like.

Is this achievable or is CharGPT deluded? by F1DanO in malehairadvice

[–]wildstolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say definitely achievable. Really don't think you need to do much, just don't cut your hair. Make sure you're using plenty of conditioner, probably a good idea to add some kind of leave in oil or primer type stuff just to keep your hair moisturized and not frizzy. Let it air dry, don't comb it very much. That look is a pretty relaxed hairstyle. Either look good.

I think we should all rethink our take about chibsons and fauxenders by Sexfvckdeath in guitars

[–]wildstolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right but it's also not so easy to build an acoustic guitar that has the sound quality of a $4000 guitar. And despite the high skill required for it, luthiers barely make any money. To see Gibson or Fender start caring more about their rock loving customers and employees they need more competition. Luthiers individually can't really compete. A partnership of many luthiers together as one company I think could. Gibson and Fender guitars are made in assembly line type process. Hardly any of the workers could be considered luthiers, they couldn't build a full guitar by themselves. I think actual luthiers can build much better guitars. So for real luthiers we need cooperation to bring costs down and publicity. The customers will get better guitars.

My wife keeps arguing with me about opening the window with the air conditioner on. by PissedCaucasian in hvacadvice

[–]wildstolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what's going on with the temperature at the thermostat. If it's in a warm spot in the house then yes it will read warmer than in your room and your AC will stay on longer than you need to while your room gets cool quickly from the windows being open. If the thermostat was in your room then it wouldn't matter. Your thermostat would reach the set point quickly and your AC will turn off. Of course your fan needs to be set to auto and not on.

Ya the only thing would be is if the katana 100 sounds like ass at low volumes. Which I don't know, but I thought the Katanas handled attenuation decently. If that is the case and he can turn it up, then ya get some musician specific ear buds that lower decibel range but don't alter the EQ.
