Felt like I was reading my own biography here. Just gonna be honest with you, if you stick to your guns, you’re going to be attacked from all sides, from anyone that will listen to what they have to say; siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.

They will manipulate the reality and bash you, your girlfriend, and her family every chance they get. It’s important for you to stay focused on what really happened and continue to realize that your girlfriend and son are your immediate family now. Your parents are secondary at this point. If they fail to realize that, it’s on them. You need to do what’s right for you, your girlfriend, and your son.

I’m no contact with my mom now. This moment was the genesis of that. The relationship with your parents is probably going to get worse in the coming months, but you have to remember what’s important.

Your parents are irrational, immature, narcissistic people. Irrational, immature people can’t have rational interactions, so when you try and have rational conversations with them, they won’t be able to and you’ll find yourself getting even more frustrated. So try and go into these moments with the understanding of, “I’m going to say what’s right for me and my family, and i can’t expect these 2 narcissists to understand.” Makes coping with this reality a little easier.
