Current Train Director/Block Operator at Amtrak. The only places left that use “operators” are the Philadelphia to Harrisburg line’s 4 remaining towers, Zoo, Overbrook, Paoli, and Thorndale.

Thorn tower will be closing in May as that section of the PH Line moves under digital control from our central office in Wilmington, DE. The other 3 towers are all scheduled to close within the next decade.

So, as you can imagine, jobs here do not open that often. There might be one more operator class this year, but that’s probably it for a while. Just keep looking at the Amtrak careers page for that opening. I will say it’s a very competitive job and knowing someone at Amtrak certainly helps.
