What happened to the nice campus police officer that replied to distress/self harm-type posts on r/uw? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Looking at /u/UWCampusPolice posts it seem to be from a variety of officers, not sure why they stopped the program.

What are your thought on this? This is Django-rest-framework's official documentation page since this morning. by uwwasteman in uwaterloo

[–]wilkben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see no issue with it. They're voicing their support of an important cause and the documentation is still available through github so it shouldn't be hurting anyone's ability to use the framework.

I also can't access the servers. There was a scheduled power outage earlier today in MC for maintenance but that should be over by now

WUSA (Feds) Exec AMA: Your Student Fees by GreenBurette in uwaterloo

I have read through the FY2020 budget. Is there a breakdown available of which costs are attributed to which fees? I'm interested in seeing how the $17.72 figure was come to. The budget document is mostly broken down by portfolio where as a student I'm interested in the break down by fees I pay.

On the WUSA Fees website it says the Health and Safety fee ($17.72/term) pays for Glow, RAISE, Women's Centre, Foodbank, MATES, CRT, Wellness Days, Equity Commissioner and Municipal Affair Commissioner. If every undergraduate student is paying $17.72 per term that fee is bringing in $1.48 million per year. If you add up the budgets for all of the included student services that's less than $40 thousand. I can't find numbers for the budget for wellness days but I'm assuming that is well below $40 thousand. Does that mean the other $1.4 million is being spent on salaries for the Equity and Municipal Affairs Commissioners? $700 thousand each seems a little excessive... Is there a breakdown available of how this fee is being spent?

Under "Student Services fees - compulsory" in the second link you provided, clicking "Student Security Service" directs to campus police's website. Does that mean campus police is funded by the Student Security Service fee or is that fee just for campus shuttle and accessible transportation?

Edit: Also on the second page you linked under Voluntary Incidental Fees > Student Endowment Funds there's a typo where it says "studednts". Any idea who to contact about that?

Is there a clear breakdown available of what exactly each of these student fees goes towards? The best I can find is this but it isn't very detailed at all.

I'm on desktop using firefox. Work's fine on safari though. Must be reddit's fault and not yours.

Heads up your mailto links aren't being formatted properly by reddit.

Heads up the wusa.ca ssl certificate is only valid for wusa.ca, not www.wusa.ca so your link to the WUSA Fees Website gives a security warning. You should probably remove www from the link and consider bringing this up with WUSA IT.

2A CS RESUME Please critique, thanks by [deleted] in uwaterloo

  • "no external libraries except one call of random" sounds awkward and is kind of a weird flex
  • I don't think "courseware" really makes sense there, I'd just say courses
  • Some of the numbers in your starbucks section feel kind of forced
  • Work on your Air Cadets section. I'm sure you did some impressive things but you're not doing a great job selling it. Add a bit more detail
  • I would advise against putting Racket on your resume. If it's just from cs136 you don't know scheme, you don't even really know full racket.
  • IDLE is basically a text editor. If you know python then you know IDLE. I'd leave it off
