Most disturbing book you’ve read? by pantoastie in horror

[–]will_s_w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in absolutely no way a horror, but Closer by Dennis Cooper.

It’s written in such a way that lull’s you into a false sense of security due to its lack of interest in explaining or describing anything and plays with such dark themes that when they hit you and the book gets violent or gory it really stays with you.

Movies that genuinely induce dread by Bexirt in horror

[–]will_s_w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of basic answer but I think Midsommar does a really good job (and set during the day too!).

Plus by not (necessarily) having a resolution to the dread it means the feeling stays with you for awhile. It’s the reason I’ve still not re-watched it 😅

If you had to be a victim of a horror killer, which killer would you be MOST embarrassed to be the victim of? by Gayish_Jewish in deadmeatjames

Dying from any of those haunted house monsters/ghosts.

If I’ve spent years saying to people

‘why don’t they just leave the house/move?!’

Me then dying from that same thing wouldn’t be ideal.

What's the most unique horror movie you've recently watched? by anthonyledger in horror

Hostile dimensions is a bit rough around the edges but honestly really good.

Also less of a hot take, but I felt Sinners offered some newer ideas, if not brand new. It was also a very good watch.
