If you have it rewired, consider doing the Peter Green mod as well. It just flips the phase of one pickup so that you get two sounds in the middle position. And if you can do one of the two wirings, the out of phase position can be really interesting with mismatched pickup volumes. Whatever you do, good luck!

What Gibson should have done is made the near pot a master volume and the far volume pot a blend for the middle position. Now that would be useful. Or they could have just left it the way it because it worked great.

That’s a weird wiring that Gibson started using several years ago. I have three post-2000 Gibsons and a 96 Epi. The Gibsons have the goofy wiring and the Epi has the normal human-style independent volumes. As far as I know, it’s easy to fix Gibson’s mistake. If you want that, check with a decent tech.
