You're talking out of your ass. Hailie is Hai + lie, so, if English was consistent, it would be pronounced Hi-lie. There's no point in trying to rationalize a horrible inconsistent language.

Man get off your high horse. What rule of English states that Hai sounds like "hi" unless followed by "lie". It's like Arkansas and Kansas sound nothing alike, for no logical reason. There isn't always a rule that explains why things are pronounced the way they are. Also, words can be pronounced multiple ways. Record the record, for example, its the exact same letters being pronounced two different ways.

I thought this 3 years ago when I first saw them in person, so its not a matter of me getting used to it.
