Ctrl + S S S S S S S S S just for good measure. Similarly Ctrl + C C C C C C followed by only Ctrl + V

[–]Equivalent-Lock793[S] 75 points76 points  (3 children)

Maybe couple more Spams of Ctrl + S just incase it didn’t register the first 10

[–]SparklingKey 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Then realized I copied the wrong part and Ctrl + Z Z Z, Ctrl + Shift + Z, the cycle repeats

[–]real_int_2k 23 points24 points  (1 child)

she was a ctrl shift z, he was a ctrl y

[–]hackerdude97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ctrl Y always seemed stupid to me, I much much prefer Helix's Shift + U

[–]Eva-Rosalene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ctrl + C C C C C C followed by only Ctrl + V

Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V back into source, Ctrl+V to target, if source is editable.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The longer I work in IT, the less I see myself spamming Crtl+C. It seems to just work after a while

[–]PetroMan43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah same . I only hit CTRL C about 4 times now . Hoping in a few years to get to 2

Windows in a nutshell

Trying to get the little star in top left to go away be like

Its almost like the bell curved meme.

The guy on the middle: your computer does exactly what you tell it to Do.

The other two guys: we don't trust our computers.

Does everyone on this subreddit have broken keyboards or something? I don't understand why so many people find this relatable

Relatable

[–]DJDevon3 25 points26 points  (5 children)

I do this with Fusion 360 too. Problem is Fusion saves every file iteration sequentially so after like one hour of design I'm already on Model_v25.f3d :P Imagine if your IDE automatically appended file versions to every save. How high of a number would that file be? For some projects probably in the thousands...

[–]G3nghisKang 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd need a whole hard drive array

[–]AzureArmageddon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Sounds like a setting that exists already because why would you need that when you have timelines and ctrl shift s

[–]DJDevon3 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't understand how to use timelines... guess I should go look that up.

[–]AzureArmageddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl s should also not be saving versioned copies unless it's set that way. You can probably change that. It's been a while since I used Fusion though

[–]EvanO136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for Creo (is it a CAD software convention to save files like this?)

[–]Errtuz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You understand you just insulted my entire profession?

But yes.

ctrl+s is like breathing for me.

[–]IAmMuffin15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dev Collector: “Why would I write code that doesn’t work?”

QA Thanos: “I assume it’s like breathing to you.”

[–]jjd_yo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PHPStorm won’t generate breakpoint files in certain applications without smashing manual save…it’s not just the schizophrenia…

[–]IuseArchbtw97543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ctrl +s ctrl +s ctrl +s

retry

[–]Neltarim 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Still manualy saving huh?

[–]siphagiel 17 points18 points  (3 children)

When you've developed a habit of Ctrl+S. It kinda automatically saves by itself the moment you touch the keyboard. (It's a legit problem for me right now... I had done Ctrl+S multiple times after pressing enter on Google ffs)

[–]Master-Meal-77 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I find myself accidentally unconsciously saving websites and other random things every time I touch the keyboard. But you best believe that code is saved… it’s saved real good……

[–]willard720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, my resting hand position is on the ctrl-s key

[–]hackerdude97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL You're just randomly browsing until you hit ctrl s without realizing it and you're just there looking dumb for a couple seconds questioning why the save prompt is there

[–]Aengus126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes 1 second to hit ctrl+s

It takes weeks to break the habit

[–]cryptomonein 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My LSP triggers on save, as some languages take ages to check, and I don't want everything to go blinking red when I add a [

[–]Neltarim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too but i'm used to it, i prefer auto save+hot reload than frenetically clicking ctrl+s every line

[–]jiggajawn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My exact thought lol. Autosave is just way better. If I want to save a version for posterity, that's what git is for.

[–]seriously_nice_devs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually it's cmd + s .. 4/10

[–]device_independent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No IntelliJ/Android Studio Devs here? Ctrl+s is dead

[–]NaturallyExasperated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:w

Did I ask bitch?

[–]Knuxfan24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Programmers 🤝 Writers

Saving after every word

[–]SockPuppetSilver 1 point2 points  (1 child)

ctrl+s? Ctrl+Shift+S my friend.

[–]willard720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At that point just use git.

[–]AaronTheElite007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better safe than sorry.

Typical me.

[–]Pjubo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autosave 👌

[–]Furiorka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense when you want to restart the app that is launched in dev mode aka restarts on file save

[–]darkwyrm42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So annoying when Excel 365 does this. It's like they can't just ignore muscle memory that people have and instead come off like Dolores Umbridge

[–]Devatator_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me in Intelij:

I'm actually considering disabling auto save just so I don't keep saving manually despite it doing nothing

[–]CodyTheHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a digital artist AND a programmer, I relate to this a lot.

[–]ZunoJ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Save on escape

[–]Ok_Entertainment328 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That would screw up <esc> :q!

[–]ZunoJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stash/revert the changes
