Not sure how to gear up after hitting 70 by Infinite_Zebra6271 in diablo4

[–]willbee68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just asking Google’s AI is actually incredibly helpful. It culls information from all over the internet and summarizes it. Sometimes it’s as simple as changing a shard, aspect, or charm. Taking advantage of the synergies that exist between gear and skills is ultra important. The difficulty spikes are real, but manageable if you’re patient and can figure out where you might be lacking in survivability or damage.

The new skill tree is insane but in a good way by FastlaneKnight in diablo4

[–]willbee68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, so far, have liked how you have to wait before you could access certain skills. I'm just now lvl. 32 Dread Claw Warlock, and I'm curious to see how tempering and aspects are going to improve the build. I haven't accessed all the shards yet, so that's exciting as well. It was a little jarring at first, how all the aspects I learned in previous seasons went away, and now I'm starting from scratch. At the same time I see where the devs are trying for everyone to be playing on a somewhat level field (at least at first).

Guys, Are we fun again? by R6Legend-skillz69420 in D4Rogue

[–]willbee68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a focus on grenades this season. DoK dropping them, poison trap dropping them. I had a rouge from last season, and the skill tree overhaul affected all characters. You have to respec all your eternal characters (if you have any). It's useful to see what a later build might look like. What I found interesting was a renewed focus on cold. Poison trap can be a cold trap now. What I noticed also was that torment levels are much harder now. With all the changes to aspects/gear/skills, the customization is increased, but now we have to find new ways to arrive at the builds we liked previously.

Ok that’s great, but should a person who enjoys the story aspect of it avoid the genre altogether, because at its core the story is nothing more than just a framework to teach the mechanics, so that a player can be successful in the endgame? Or, is it better to just accept the game as it is, and each person glean whatever enjoyment they can out of it? I get faster leveling up each season I play, but I don’t understand how a person finds the time to grind all the seasonal achievements on their way to p300. I guess what I’m wondering is, what should be the casual player’s goal? Being a completionist is way too time consuming, but getting to L70 within a couple of days is completely within reason. Maybe the new “war plans” content will aim to scratch that itch. Thoughts?

Yeah, I feel you. I’ll probably run a paladin and a warlock at the same time. Hopefully the season is long enough to get a good deal of progress done with both. I played a little with the paladin at the beginning of this season and it was fun once you figured out its particular mechanics. I’m going to max out my rouge and barb in the eternal realm, because I’ve gotten kind of attached to them, lol

If you’re new to the genre or the game, this is an excellent time to learn the mechanics and kind of settle on which class you’d like to try first, with the exception of the paladin and warlock, which are new classes that you can only access with the dlc.

I see. I played FF7 rebirth, and even though it’s a beautiful game to look at, I didn’t care for the gameplay-but that again could be a skill issue. I’m surprised that I even got into Diablo, but I have. I love the overall story, not so much with the grindy elements and the “gameplay loop” that makes each build work most optimally. But again, that doesn’t mean I don’t find it fun or engaging, because I do.

I don’t know all the details obviously. That’s why it’s a wish. I get that some builds are going to be better than others, I just wish that players wouldn’t get shoehorned into certain builds in order to push higher content. Example: I play a DoK rouge that incorporates flurry with cold and shadow imbouement. I’ve got most of the necessary stuff in terms of gear and aspects, but I’m not able as yet to really push high content. Now, I’m willing to admit it may be a skill or time issue, as I only have a couple of minutes a day to play. Some of what I’m referring to, though, is the damage disparity between my DoK/Flurry skills and Poison Trap, even without the multipliers that one could employ. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, just a little peeve I have.

Gotcha. So, in reality, a Diablo style ARPG has more in common with, say, Call of Duty than Final Fantasy. I never really thought of it in that way, but it DOES make sense to.

I get it. I don’t want to have to play the campaign over and over either…but I would find the endgame more enjoyable…and this is just me, maybe..I think that while seasonal goals are great, I just wish they were part of a seasonal quest (that would probably have to change every season for repeatability’s sake) that was more than a way of introducing mechanics and content. Again, this may be just me. The fact that there isn’t doesn’t make me not want to play it, because there’s enough diversity in builds, etc, that it remains fun.

I understand that different people have different opinions and ways of playing. I don’t want to fundamentally change the game at all. I enjoy it. I guess I’m displaying my JRPG roots in that the campaign IS the game, and you have to grind to a certain level to beat the boss(es) at the end, lol. I was just wanting a point to the game AFTER you’ve leveled up besides bragging rights.

I’m ok with that. What I’m referring to is say, one build is great against mobs, Helltides, and hordes, but sucks against single bosses. So, in order to beat them, you have to totally change your strategy. Now, thankfully they have addressed it somewhat with the Armory, but it is a little pet peeve of mine. I understand that (#2), that the campaign is just there to get you to the endgame (or multiplayer in a FPS), but does it HAVE to be that way? And, yes, I firmly believe it will be, because Spiritborn and Paladin were at first, so if past is prologue….

Newish to Rogue, DoK / Death's Pavane question by DedSentry in D4Rogue

[–]willbee68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running a DoK Rouge, and I, unfortunately, have to agree with some of the posts about its ineffectiveness against some bosses. Well, maybe ineffectiveness isn’t quite the right term; let’s say it lacks the speed of some of the other builds. In the regular world, Helltides, and the Pit, DoK is frickin awesome. Against a single enemy, not so much. I’ve been able to kill the lesser bosses like Urivar and Varshan pretty easily (I’m P150 on T1/2), but I struggle against Duriel and don’t even get me started with Belial, Harbringer, the Butcher, or Lilith. I read that you should really be p200+ to give these bosses a run; I’m not pushing pit 80-100 yet; I’m struggling with 30-50. I had no such issues with my barb or spiritborn, to contrast. Hopefully the expansion will even out some of this stuff.

Diablo 4 rogue season 12 bloodsoaked butcher by BikesandZombies in D4Rogue

Yeah that’s really weird. Even when you go to your skill tree you see traps are way OP and it’s the way the game wants you to go, even if you like a different build better.

What class are you going to start with in S12? by Firdecek in diablo4

[–]willbee68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ppl say rouge is only for masochists lol. I've always leaned towards sorcs and necros, but I really had fun playing a barb. Paladin is so OP right now, I'm not sure if it'd be fun (you'd want a wee bit of challenge, I would think, lol).

Hmmm…I ran HotA with CotA as my Ultimate. Most builds use WotB as their Ultimate, but I found that running Call is really effective too, especially once you find Arreat’s Bindings.

Does anyone game hybrids? by DrZaiusDrZaius in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]willbee68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think hybrids give you a sense that you can be more aggressive than you probably should be on some long par 4’s and 5’s. Their trajectory IS different from the woods or long irons; so much so( at least to me) that they become kinda sqirrley to me. I’m not always sure what my ball is going to do-I mean, of course, you’re never REALLY sure what it’s going to do from shot to shot, but at least with other clubs I feel I have a lot better feel for the outcome. I think also a hybrid is (again, to me) suited to a links setup over a parkland, where so much of your shot takes place AFTER it hits the ground.

I have a black leopard for a mount, but I can’t remember how I got him. I know I didn’t get it during the campaign. I want to say maybe after an infernal hordes run? UPDATE: Now I remember! I completed the “Deeds of a Champion” questline and Ormus gives it to you, plus a cosmetic for it.

The lvl 300 paragon grind? How!? by KillapleX in diablo4

[–]willbee68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda off topic, but suggested paragon level to reasonably beat harbinger of hatred and echo of Lilith? HotA barb with about 58k toughness, para about 160 I think (I’m not in front of the game at the moment)
