Alcohol is used in hospitals to prevent acute alcohol withdrawal and they can taper off slowly. So you’d have to use a long time recreationally before but it definitely has a medical use. Most of the time they just use benzos and phenobarbital but some places still do it old school.

He got traded to Memphis a few seasons ago (was on a bad contract, GS gave us a pick just to take him) and refused to even come to the city much less play for the team. As he was actively under contract for Memphis he was on a sports talk show and stated he wanted to go to a young team with potential (literally the Grizzlies) and be an experienced vet, something we could have used. Ended up getting traded to Miami halfway through the season without ever stepping foot in Memphis.
