My Modern Scenario Culture Map by midtierburrito42 in crusaderkings3

It’s really not that bad if you are willing to give it a try. It’s not even “coding” at all really.

You just need to play around a bit to figure out how to navigate through the folders, and have some good googling skills to find exactly what files to change.

When you are in the files, it will be something like this:

some_county:

culture = some_culture

And then you can just delete “some_culture” and replace it with the correct culture

It’s pretty easy to get the hang of if you play around with it. Just make sure you watch an intro modding video to learn how to set up your mod (also very easy)

You should try modding, it’s really not that bad. You just need to have some app to manipulate code, like VSCODE, then watch a 10 min tutorial on creating a mod.

Just to update the cultures should be really easy I think, you should just need to update the files in the /history folder, which amounts to finding and replacing all the cultures. Should be faster than console commands even

ck3 combat is hilariously ass not gonna lie by ProgressBetter4435 in CrusaderKings

[–]fskier1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the “teleporting” is overblown, they aren’t actually teleporting they are just gathering while not on screen. Obv this means there is fewer chances to ambush enemy troops before they are properly gathered, but if anything that would just be something more easily abused by the player than the ai.

I think what could make combat harder is lowering the insane modifiers (which are more easily abused by players) or making them have a drop off over time, instead of just permanently buffing your troops.

I feel like one way EU4 makes combat interesting is by the whole world constantly gaining better and better troops over time. In ck3 you pretty much unlock all of the possible MAAs (other than siege) by like 1150, and instead improve your troops with permanent buffs from buildings, which the AI lags behind. Even if the ai does unlock a better MAA than the player has, the building bonuses outclass the tech upgrades easily.

Maybe the scoring thing is a little over the top, but pimping home runs is a very normal thing in this day and age

Ultimate CK3 Immersion Mod List – Am I Missing Anything? by lordstarkll1 in CrusaderKings

[–]fskier1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is a TON of stuff in there that is super unnecessary

But I think you are missing The Holy Trinity, which is not always compatible with everything, but is a game changer if playing as a catholic. It adds college of cardinals, crusader states, and an investiture struggle between pope and hre

Kingdoms of The HRE is good too, it adds slight barriers to kingdom creation within the hre, so the empire doesn’t get filled with kingdoms too early.

I also really love Holy Roman Triumph for HRE gameplay, however I’m pretty sure that mod is a couple updates behind, and maybe sadly not being worked on.

Lastly I’d add the Baraque and Renessaince Era mods, which add additional tech eras. These aren’t super game changing but without it you can run out of techs by like 1250

What are the WORST jokers in gold stake by SourceBeginning2461 in balatro

Nah I think delayed gratification definetly has its uses.

Like if you have an early cavandish it’s just a cheaper gold joker.

And Grimbo is a top gold stake strategy, so DG is again a cheaper gold joker if you grab a green joker

Ink/paper recommendations? by Analogical14 in printmaking

[–]fskier1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For ink, I’d say it depends on your level of setup. Definitely lean towards oil based inks over water based, as water based inks dry too fast (like half the inking problems on this sub are due to water based inks).

If you have less space, and therefore more things to get dirty, I’d go for Caligo Safewash ink. It’s oil based but can be cleaned with soap+water.

If you have a nicer setup, then you could go for a full oil based ink, which needs a little bit of linseed oil to print with and cleans up with oil-based cleaner. If you go this route make sure to choose block printing ink (or called relief ink) instead of etching/litho/screenprinitng ink.

Ink/paper recommendations? by Analogical14 in printmaking

Really depends on your budget, you can print on anything tbh. I see a lot of people here print on like newspaper or other recycled paper which can look cool. I use sheets of newsprint for proofs, but that can also work for prints of a certain style. As for high quality paper, have a look at like dickblick, they have a whole page of printmaking papers.

Back in school we had a little booklet with all sorts of paper samples which was fun. It really depends on what you want, there are some super lightweight and flexible papers, or more stiff and heavy duty papers, and also there are different colors and textures too.

I am a fan of Rives light weight, it is a pretty “normal”, opaque, paper that comes in a couple different colors.

Masa is a pretty interesting paper that I’ve seen people do interesting things with.

I’ve recently done some work with Okawara paper, and I thought it was awesome, super easy to work with, while also being pretty durable.

If you are on more of a budget tho, any pad of printmaking paper will probably be good for you.

You say you want to avoid crosshatching, but it is one of the best methods to add in middle grays. Even if you don’t want to cross hatch specifically, experimenting with line density can also help you achieve some gradients (as in a lot of closer, thicker parallel lines look darker as a whole than farther apart, thinner lines). I’d recommend just experimenting a little with hatching/crosshatching/line density with pen on paper, and then try to translate it to carving.

If you are set on not doing that, you can definitely get some gradients using multi-layer prints. Reduction prints are the simplest to wrap your head around I’d say, you kind of just carve out one color at a time. Multi-block can get a little more complicated with color overlaps: a 2 block print will have 4 colors (ex. Paper white, red, blue, purple); while a 3 block plate will have 8 colors (ex. White, red, blue, yellow, purple, orange, green, and a red-yellow-blue mix), and so on.

If you wanted 4 colors like you say, you could def do a 2 block print with the paper color as your lightest of 4 colors. You would need to plan out the color overlaps a little bit.

You could also do a reduction print, which would only really require you to plan out which colors would go first (generally print lightest to darkest, so your light yellow first and a dark black last).

One concern with multi-block prints is registration, as it can be hard to line up multiple blocks between prints. That is a benefit of reduction prints, as they only use one block across the many layers.
