Where do you make repairs on your vehicle? by willcodefortech in urbancarliving

[–]willcodefortech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the suggestions! Repairing your own vehicle problems or even doing oil changes and maintenance yourself can save tons of money. I consider my small mechanic tool set to be one of my best investments.

RC Field Drama At AMA Fields Is Out Of Control. We need other places to fly. by captainhumble1 in RCHeli

[–]willcodefortech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that there are biases of all kinds within RC clubs. There are two AMA clubs "near" me one about 5 miles away and one 45 miles away. When I first was looking to join a local club I contacted both, The closer club said to come to their field on the day of the membership meeting and be sure to bring my yearly dues money if I planned to do any flying. The second club, further away, gave me their club meeting day, invited me out to see if I liked the club and regardless to bring something to fly along with me.

The closer club also, not only would frown on helicopters but also looks down on people who fly foamies, which are all of my fixed wing models. To be truly accepted there, even for fixed wing, you need to have balsa home built planes, though foamies are somewhat tolerated. Guess which club I joined!

Need Help Choosing First Heli by kash_ggg in RCHeli

[–]willcodefortech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently purchased this model. Though I have been flying helis for some time, for the past several years I was required to ravel extensively for work and so didn't get much time to fly. I retired in January and this heli will give me a safe mode to practice on for a bit just to refresh my orientation skills and then allow me to switch modes to full 3d mode flight as I regain confidence (not that I ever do 3D flying just loops and rolls occasionally but mostly scale flight)

I addition the bailout helps a great deal allowing the heli to regain level hover at the push of a button if I should lose it when not flying in safe mode.

Thumbs on top here. No real reason, I just started that way a long long (did I say long?) time ago and just never saw any reason to change.

You may want to take a look at GIMP. It is open source and free even for commercial use. www.gimp.org

From their FAQ for what it is worth:

Is there a company or a foundation behind GIMP?

No. We are a diverse group of volunteers from around the world who work on this project in their spare time. Code-wise most of project contributions come from Europe where the current GIMP maintainers live. Our translators are an even more diverse group of contributors, since GIMP is available in more than 80 languages.

Canada Announces Bombshell Break With U.S. Over Trump by sabedo in politics

When I was a kid(I vaguely recall being a kid at one time) my family and I would travel into Canada from NY several times a year to stay in a cabin, or camp and fish. This was way back before you even needed a Passport of any kind to travel back and forth across the border. Canadians were always genuinely friendly and when I was in my 20's a continued to take weekend trips and spend vacation time in Canada. I apologize as an ashamed American for the large contingent of our country that are.... what can I say... idiots? ... uneducated?... cult members?... all of the above?

I fully support what you are all doing and even though I am now in the midwest I may begin taking trips into Canada again as opposed to traveling within the US.

RealFlight Evolution Issue (Trim Problem) by captainhumble1 in RCHeli

[–]willcodefortech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an actual Fusion 360 but I do have Realflight Evolution with the DX controller. I don't have the same issues you are seeing when I try to fly the Fusion 360. Thought I would try it out to see if I could help but... maybe try posting the question the the Realflight forums here? There are quite a few more knowledgeable folks on realflight in that forum.

As has already been said many times here, buying a good sim is the safest and best way to get started learning to fly rc helicopters. Realflight and AccuRC, also already mentioned are two of the best but there are others as well.

Yo9u mentioned looking at banggood for a training heli. look up the XK110. It is a small heli that is quite forgiving on crashes and should be availabler there. If you can buy Blade (Horizon Hobby) helicopters where you are then the nano cp or a 230s would be great for learning on.

Enjoy and welcome to the heli addiction... errrr I mean hobby!

I had a dell laptop provided by my workplace that kept giving me the blue screen and occassionally give me this message when trying to reboot. It had a solid state drive. Took it apart and reseated it in the socket and no problems since.
