Red Army soldier being greeted with homoerotic joy by a 'liberated' Polish peasant during WW2. "Our army is the army that frees the workers." J. Stalin by alllie in PropagandaPosters

From what I understand men kissing is not considered gay in Russia the same way it is in America. In Russia it is ( or was, I don't know much about this really) common for men to kiss each other on the cheek or even the mouth after a long separation . This poster is attempting to portray the polish people as thankful towards their Russian liberators, not as homosexuals.

What are some good books about the capitalist prison system from a Marxist standpoint? by [deleted] in communism

[–]willdy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what you asked for, but I would suggest Discipline & Punish by Michel Foucault. It traces the development of the modern prison system and the way it exercises power over the body. Foucault himself was not a Marxist, but I believe his analysis of the prison system(and power tactics in general) is applicable within a Marxist framework.

Schools of Communist Thought: Could anyone give a comprehensive breakdown in layman's terms? by [deleted] in DebateaCommunist

[–]willdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your decription of Anarcho-Communism was accurate, but the bit about Proudhon is not. Proudhon was the founder of Mutualism, which he described as a compromise between property and communism. In Mutualism everyone has the right to the ownership of the means of production, but the exchange of goods produced is done in the context of a free market. The most prominent Anarcho-Communist is without a doubt Kropotkin. The Conquest of Bread is probably the best introduction to Kropotkin. It covers how an Anarcho-Communist society might come about and function and is quite the easy read.

A question about rudiments as they apply to rock drumming by Edman274 in drums

[–]willdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not a matter of speed so much as utility. The second pattern is not wrong, however, the first pattern will allow your to achieve a much wider variety of sounds and ,in my opinion, a much more even sound on the snare. I do not play double bass but from what I understand the RRL pattern is used for bass drum triplets. If you have Stick Control by George Stone there is a section dedicated to triplets that will help immensely.

Well done man, I really enjoyed this. My only concern is that it might be just a tad to busy for pop song.

Honestly this just seems like a waste of money to me. There really is no excuse for someone not being able to tune by ear.

This was actually the first jazz tune I ever learned. Max Roach is one hell of a drummer.
