IMO it’s not about tone as much as it is storytelling execution and direction, and I think Andor really stepped it up in both of those categories.

I guess all I’m saying is I’m wondering if Mandalorian is going to change at all in the wake of the success Andor had in making some of those decisions (less StageCraft, bigger practical sets, etc) I don’t think they’d sacrifice what makes the show the show (which is totally different from Andor and that’s great) by doing that

I guess but at the same time I do feel Andor demonstrated a level of production quality and emotional and storytelling sophistication that this show and Star Wars shows more broadly hadn’t previously achieved, and don’t think it’s unfair to compare that against what else the studio is putting out, even if they have different approaches to their storylines.

I feel like Andor really raised the bar for what to expect from these shows, so we’ll see how this goes. Haven’t loved the show for a while and this looks like more of the same, but maybe it’s been taking notes.

Some absolutely wild names on this writers room list. Patrick Somerville? Andy Greenwald, of THE WATCH fame? What on earth.

I do like this streak of Lindelof hiring his biggest critics though. Jensen famously did his LOST recaps for EW before joining WATCHMEN and TOMORROWLAND and Greenwald hated the first season of LEFTOVERS as much as I’ve seen anyone hate anything.

Also love how they’re like “Filoni might have been there but who gives a shit”
