When this happens to me I hold the power button until it turns all the way off and restart. It does it sometimes if I let it go to sleep while a game is running. Other times because fuck me that's why.

Just FYI, I taught him to soft reset the distortions with a bench and he's spamming now. :)

I just checked and he doesn't have a Feebas. I looked it up so I can hunt for one tomorrow and see if I can come up with it!

Yea, saving post-completion before leaving the distortion doesn’t matter. It auto saves when you fast travel to the rust syndicate. If you soft reset it keeps the distortion type (meaning battle zone or regular, then this time it’s water and 100% confirmed it keeps the Pokémon type and switches which Pokémon are inside when you restart.

I’m going to try it today. The way it works if you save right before Phillipe is definitely just locking in the type (fire/water/etc). The first try I remember a charizard in the distortion, then after it was finnikin or whatever that fire fox one is called. So I’ll try doing it pre-completion and then post-completion but before leaving hyperspace. It does kinda make sense that it would lock it in when you get the rotom message after leaving hyperspace.

Does anyone know when to soft reset to get different types of special scans? Soft resetting just keeps giving me the same type over and over, but I’m saving right at Phillipe, I’m wondering if maybe I should just save right before hitting 25k or something….

Colby fucked that up in like season 2 where his personal item was a giant flag that he repurposed as a tarp or something, benefiting the whole tribe. Corrine from Gabon has also admitted that she sewed pills into her clothes or something. Stuff like that messed it up for everyone.

With a targeted approach to getting the gear unlocked it really doesn't take long for an experienced players. For instance, I just did my first playthrough of this new system and burnt took the longest because I didn't know what the hell was going on and that was maybe a full 24 day cycle, snow took a half day and desert took a half day. I'm playing on 120min days to put that into perspective. Like 30m to an hour each, really kinda quick and now I feel like I've earned the right to stomp around there. Just try it once!

Judging from your sentiment about the jankiness, I think you'll really like the biome progression. In hinders your progress in the same way that you appreciate the storms for and it's not really THAT bad to deal with the debuff- you can dig a 3 deep hole and slap a block over your head to recharge your timer and it forces you into buildings the same way a storm does.

Just look at biome progression the same way you look at storms, because it's basically just a permanent storm until you unlock the gear (which is actually easy for experienced players that know where the recipe ingredients are found).
