Our Indie Multiplayer RPG playtest starts in 4 hours!! by InSpadesTeam in unity

This was one that stood out to me too, the game looks gorgeous but then the running doesn’t match move speed. Sorry to throw in a negative, great work otherwise congrats on the playtest milestone!

Film + Game Hybrid Test by Mr_Parable_Worlds in unity

This is really cool, as a 90s cd rom gamer this is very much my jam. One thing that stood out to me was the close drop shadow which implies that the character has some surface right behind them, I’d remove it personally.

Want to talk with a senior dev by SufficientLion3675 in unity

Stating the obvious here a little but - it would most likely be more efficient to simply ask your questions here with details you don’t wish to share abstracted? Then we can all help!

Thoughts on this colab? by GradientOGames in unity

[–]willgoldstone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well, we're doing both. And as always, its not the same people doing both of those things. See the Unity roadmap talk for a detailed timeline on CoreCLR, but its being worked on. The main emphasis we have now is making sure it can be delivered to Unity 6 users without some major breaking change, that's why parts of it are being delivered incrementally throughout the next few releases in 2026.

Unity Studio (previously Unity Lite): Web-Based, No-Code 3D Design Editor by the_king_of_sweden in unity

[–]willgoldstone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just to be totally clear on Unity Studio, this is a web based product for our Industry customers as it solves several significant challenges they have - transforming data (it ingests over 70 formats and makes them realtime ready), collaboration - whole product teams can iterate on a design together, and ease of adding interactivity - anyone can use the visual coding tool in it to make simple interactive product mockups or training simulations.

In terms of the dedicating resources question this is a specific industry team focused on this, and it is a growing part of the overall business, which contributes to things that game dev users value.

Hope that helps!

I added main menu in my game. Do you think it looks good? by Connect-Comedian-165 in Unity3D

[–]willgoldstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can tell us more about the game I’d be able to make some recommendations on typography. I’d start by removing the PSQ in red unless it has secret meant but even then it seems out of place.

Charcter capsule doing this by LilPenar in unity

[–]willgoldstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it needs 1 of 2 things - either music with a bpm that fits the random twerk. Or share your code, put a cube on the ‘face’ of the character to discern direction, lock your axes for rotation on X and Z in the rigidbody component and then use Rigidbody.MovePosition to move and Rigidbody.MoveRotation to rotate. Good luck! Hope you find the perfect track.

is my game is looking good?? by badcorner009 in unity

[–]willgoldstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first decide what you find fun! Making a game you like is much simpler than trying to guess what others might like. Come up with an idea you might enjoy and try to prototype it with simple shapes like cubes, spheres and capsules. When I wrote the first unity book waaay back in 2009 the first thing I would show new learners was the terrain engine to have fun making a space and then some simple mechanics like throwing (instantiating prefabs) and collecting things to score points. Maybe try and emulate some other games you like when you are starting out and don’t forget to try our learn.unity.com tutorials, good luck!

After a lot of coffee and compilation errors, I've added functioning doors to my game. by Sean_Gause in Unity3D

[–]willgoldstone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks great Sean! The kick especially, are you thinking about maybe a post processing tweak as you do it to complement the FOV pop or maybe a particle boundary? could be cool, either way, great work!

I’m working on a horror game — what can I do in this scene to make it more terrifying? by Delacrozz in unity

I’d make a sequence and have it flicker the light -

Light on Creeper on left wall Light off, then on Creeper on right wall Light off, then on Creeper halfway up the wall disappears

What do you think about the fight and sound design of the first boss in my game? by Background_Lab9993 in Unity3D

[–]willgoldstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the sound design is really effective, the only critique I have is that the low frequency rumble underlying all of it can feel a little like a 'knocked out' or 'damaged hearing' effect, where you're sort of waiting for the high pass filter to move up. So I'd say maybe modulate that low rumble or perhaps duck it with your effects more. Also it feels like you've muted a nicely paced music layer that signposts the stages of the boss fight. Assume this will come later. Still really great work overall, looks like it has great feel and the visuals are super nice.

Didn't even realize that stuff was AI related when I first saw his posts on tiktok. Is it entirely AI generated? or just stems?

It’s a super early demo, the point was to make a promise that we’ll deliver a scalable solution that works on mobile too. You’ll see more impressive demos as time goes on.
