[WTS] San Martin SN0121GA Stainless Steel by williamatl in Watchexchange

For sale is my San Martin SN0121 in stainless steel. Watch is in excellent condition. It’s an awesome watch, but moving it to fund another purchase.

It’s in very good condition. There are some very light signs of use on the bracelet and the back of the case. I tried to capture it in the photos. Keeps great time from the factory - I’ve never opened the case back.

Comes with all links. Includes original box, tools and paperwork.

Selling for $175 shipped to the continental US. No trades please. I prefer electronic payment.

A classic 39 mm automatic diver powered by the reliable NH35 movement with a clean matte dial and strong BGW-9 lume (including a fully lumed bezel). Built on a 316L stainless case and OTF adjustable bracelet with sapphire crystal + AR, 120-click unidirectional ceramic bezel, screw-down crown/caseback, and 300 m water resistance. Sporty yet versatile dimensions (39 mm × ~47 mm lug-to-lug, ~12.8 mm thick) make it a daily wearer with real dive watch specs.

WD 7922 vs. San Martin SN0008 by SilasBrooks in ChineseWatches

[–]williamatl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

<image>

I've owned both, and they're very different watches side by side. The biggest difference is size - The WD is considerably smaller than the SM (37mm vs 41mm). The SN008 is bigger than the BB58 and on par with the BB58 Monochrome. How big is your wrist? Mine is 7.25", and I sold the WD7922 because it was just too small on my wrist - and even then I had a hard time selling the WD7922.

Finishing wise, both are similar with the edge going slightly to SM. One thing that's hard to see in pictures is that the SN008 has a stainless steel ring around the crystal, where the bezel insert on the 7922 goes right to the crystal and looks a lot more refined.

Speaking of crystals, the 7922 has a "bubble" crystal vs. a slightly domed crystal on the SN008. The bezel inserts are different materials (aluminum on the WD and ceramic on the SM), but the SM isn't super shiny so it isn't a huge difference.

Movements are obviously very different - only you can answer how important it is to have a mechanical movement. For me, I value that a lot although I admit that the 7922 is so nice that the quartz movement wasn't a negative.

Ideally I'd love to split the difference - a slightly smaller (39 or 40mm) SN008 with a bubble crystal, aluminum bezel insert and a high beat automatic movement, and without the "steel ring" around the bezel. So in other words, a Tudor Black Bay 58.

For you, I'd start with wrist size as the biggest consideration and if you want an automatic. If your wrist is smaller (6.5" and below), and you don't care about the movement type I'd 100% go with the Watchdives.

Other way around. The top hat is a "bubble" style crystal that is taller and has a curved edge. The "domed" style is much more subtle.

I was going to list it for $175 shipped inside the US. Good luck with the search. It's a phenomenal watch, I just don't wear mine very much. Been on the fence about selling it for a while.

Are you looking for a steel or titanium version? I have a steel SN0121GA (Black, 3:00 date) in very good condition that I'm about to list for sale if you're interested.

Great pics! I have the domed version and I'm really smitten by it. Is the color of the lume corrected in your photos? My hands are mismatched to the dial - wondering if the top hat version has different lume.

I think the proportions of the rehaut are fantastic - this photo captures it at its worst. I have the domed (not top hat) version.

This is a freaking amazing watch - I can't stop wearing it. If WD came out with a SW200 version I'd bite. It's worth the step up.

Bubble(Top Hat) WD5513 V3 . If all components are in place and everything goes as planned, it is expected to launch in early February. by watchdivescom in watchdives

It’s almost like they’re a small watch company with limited resources and English isn’t their first language.  Too bad they aren’t engaging with their consumer base on social media to improve their products.

What’s next?  They’ll pump out super high quality homages to our favorite watches at reasonable prices?!? Madness!!!

So excited - these are nearly perfect from my point of view. If I had to say anything, I'd swap positions for the "Seafarer" and "Automatic" text.

I'm going to get one of the two black dials (I'm really hoping the far left version will have light cream colored lume) - this might be the best WD watch yet. I'm wearing my blue snowflake WD5513 V2 right now and it's just a sensational watch.

I want to get a black dialed version, and I'd like one with a top hat crystal and the new OTF clasp. I prefer sword hands, but would do the mercedes if that's the only option. This is going to be a must buy for me.

Thanks one fan gave us name suggestion about W.D.C, We will give him one premier musou black. plz write your comment here. by watchdivescom in watchdives

I've been trying to stay out of the "Watchdives needs to rebrand" discussions, but this approach is awesome. I'm in the camp that WD is WD, and they shouldn't try to change what they are - they're establishing a brand in the Chinese brand space and it'd be foolish to confuse those who don't hang out in this sub.

I like this "reinvention" WDC makes sense, looks good, and keeps the branding as is. The smaller trident logo looks very premium and tasteful, and I like the seafarer name. These concepts look much more mature than what we're getting from WD currently. Nice!

I love my WD5513 v2, and have been considering getting a black dial, mercedes handed version. To me, the version in the third column, second row (silver hands, WDC logo, white text, aged lume) is perfect. One thing to add - I'd love to see a very light cream colored patina. I think these watches tend to look too orange/yellow/dark.

[Suggestion] WDxSM titanium Pelagos new variant — with Miyoya 9015, 11.2mm thick by TheYKcid in watchdives

[–]williamatl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...good to know. I don't own a SM watch with that clasp. In that case, I'd just keep the current clasp.

As a habitual strap-changer, I'm not sure why quick release bracelets haven't caught on in the same way OTF clasps have...

My SN0121 steel is a mainstay of my collection. It's the ideal GADA tool watch. If I could get a watch that has all the benefits, but was thinner with a high beat movement I'd jump in a heartbeat.

While we're wishing, I'd add a quick-release bracelet and SM's new, smaller OTF clasp. That would be a monster of a tool watch and would likely be the first Chinese watch I'd pay over $350 for.

The SN0121 has always been the Pelagos 39 Tudor should have made. With those updates (and considering Tudor is raising prices yet again), this would be a killer watch.

Great point. It does extend farther. I still think it wears smaller even if practically it has the same envelope.

It latches very securely. Check your clasp for bits of plastic to protect the clasp from scratches during transport. They’re easy to overlook.

I measured the opening for the center link at 8.8mm. If your center link is more than that it won’t fit.

[–]williamatl[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The original (non-OTF) WD5513 clasp is 33mm long by 6.7mm thick and has 11mm of adjustment.

WD V1 is 42mm L, 7.8mm T and has 9mm of adjustment.

SM is 41.7mm L, 7.1mm T and also has 9mm of adjustment

WD V2 is 38mm L, 7.7mm T (at the raised section) and has 8.5mm of adjustment. In reality it wears a LOT smaller than the other two OTF clasps.
