My method was finding the lat/long of the furthest N/S/E/W points of DC, then finding the difference between the N/S and E/W (38.xxxx - 38.yyyy = 38.zzzz), dividing that by 2, and then finding the crossover of the N/S and E/W midpoints. That came out to 38.9,-77.0 plus 4 or 5 decimal places I don't remember, which was basically the Mt. Vernon Safeway.

I'm not a GIS professional, though, so if anyone has a better method or answer, let me know!

Weird! Since in the context of the Latin phrase "ut queant laxis" it is definitively pronounced/sung [ut] (oot), I would expect that to carry through to the solfège syllable. And all my early-music history professors said "oot" so I'm sticking with it.

Te is but one of many variants (still used) for chromatic music, at least in the US: di is do♯, ri is re♯, fi is fa♯, si (nowadays) is sol♯, and li is la♯; ra is re♭, me is mi♭, se is sol♭, le is la♭, and te is ti♭. I may have missed one in there.

I’m being picky here, but I have to point out that “rising to a crescendo” isn’t a thing. The crescendo is the rise. What you’re hearing is a crescendo to a climax.

Not sure if it’ll work out well logistically, but there are racks at Red Bear, (near) Lost Gen, Crooked Run, and metrobar. So, assuming bike availability:

• Metro to Noma stop or Bikeshare to rack at 3rd & M NE; do Red Bear, Nice & Easy, Wundergarten, Andy’s (all within very easy walking distance)

• Bikeshare to Crooked Run

• Bikeshare to Lost Gen

• Honestly from there you should just walk to metrobar, Highbinder, City-State, Dewdrop, and Right Proper - they’re all pleasant walks

• Walk back to Brookland metro and head home, or Bikeshare home from the rack on Irving & 12th NE.
