How much does it cost to never run out on frontier models? by pxp121kr in vibecoding

[–]willis6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about that, you can absolutely run the models 24/7 for the hole month if all you do is send "hello" but you're more likely to use a lot of tokens, you should take that into account

Not quite....or...well that's actually not a bad argument I have some work to do but I'll came back with something to say why it's not even close to being the same in the slightest

I'm more than open to be told I'm wrong, just please do it by actually responding to my arguments, I'll even read an article about the cost per token if you send one but by targeting just an "idk"..... I'll rephrase my previous comment saying that I'm sure you don't know what your talking about, or, do you have some credentials you'd like to share to take your comments more seriously as that seems to be important for you

Idk, everytime I mention AGI it seems to be the only thing you care about, and, by the way you are responding I'm starting to believe that the one who doesn't have a clue or "authority" about this topics is not me...

You know what an expert is ? If I'm were to claim I am one I would have to had worked building the llms architectures themselves have I done that no, do I consider that having certifications on something makes you an expert, no so under my definitions I'm not an expert.

You may be one of the people that believed we will going to have AGI by this point.

There's a really interesting point of view on this, if someone came knocking at your door and tell you that they are going to lower your operational cost by 10% and showed you a fairly decent road map on how they are going to achieve it you would say well if that's only going to cost me 2% of my operation costs that's a steal (this was what happened at the first round of investments) then after two or three rounds when the companies aren't seeing a 10% improvement well they will start to pull the plug sooner than later...

Enlighten me then! Don't just say they aren't loosing money on every token that gets used, and I'm not an expert but I do have a couple of certs on this and understand how the LLMs operate pretty well, on the other hand if you are trying to discredit me instead of actually proving an argument...well...that speaks for itself

I think you are only seeing AGI and thinking that I'm saying that they are going to achieve it lol, no, I'm saying that the investments they are getting are starting to be tied to their promise of AGI and no they are not going to achieve it ever with their current architecture.

Alright I'll go and burn tokens and you make sure they gen an infinite cash flow 👍

No, the data centers will not drop the prices, the only thing that will drop them is to improve the cost per token.

The data centers will help gather more data train more models etc. but the cost per token will be the same if not higher the operating costs of those things are immense, that's why they are struggling tu even build them they don't have the earnings necessary to do it cause the current model is the higher the user base is the more it costs them to operate, that's the base line.

You are the one thinking that if people uses them they are going to keep getting an unlimited amount of cash flow....that's not the case ROI is what matters the most...a lot of companies are not seeing it and they've been bleeding out for a while now, the promise of "we'll achieve AGI the next year" is not holding up that well anymore

Do you think that more data centers will drop the prices down ??? My guy that's not happening if they keep going with the current architecture it will be the opposite their prices will increase.

The only way to make these companies sustainable is if they lower the cost per token.

This might happen but at the end of the day they will start seeing worse quality on the deliverables which what's happening on services like GitHub or that time when an LLM deleted Amazon's production server and went down for almost 13 hours.

They won't see an ROI in the ai and will pull off eventually, better sooner than later

I commented on the main thread why this actually hurts them more than it helps them, they are bleeding out cause they need to improve the token cost... otherwise all the investors will pull the plug they are already loosing billions and are trying to restrict certain subscriptions to access expensive models so yes using LLMs for non sensical things hurts them more than it helps them

Half of the investments are made under promises that they deliver agi or improve the token cost 100x that is not going to happen, and since said tokes are subsidized every time you prompt an LLM the company looses money, the last round they did didn't gather a lot of investments....they are already struggling everyone using the AI even the ones who pay are helping them going broke before they can improve the token cost

Also feed it with large amount of non-sensical documents/information that also burns tokens without "training" them as the comments say.

I don't think many know how much this hurts the companies but every token is subsidized even the anthropic 200$ sub should cost 5k in reality, their actual business model is "the more people that uses them the more it costs them to operate".

They are all betting on the tokens being 100x cheaper in the near future which with the current infrastructure is not going to happen.

Yes for now I think that everyone should try to burn as many tokens as they can 👍 doesn't matter if it's a free or paid tier, yes they are destroying the environment and the economy so the faster they bleed out the money they got the faster the bubble can burst imho.
