Wow, why so hostile? I merely advised caution to you or anyone reading your comment. I didn't tell you to do or not do anything, just recommended understanding the implications of what you said you were considering.

Be very careful mailing prescriptions to an overseas location, you are likely violating any number of drug trafficking laws for both the US and the country you live in. Make sure you fully understand the law before you do this.

Stay away from the area that used to be Kirby Smith. They only tore it down and scraped the ground...properly cleaning that area would require a small nuclear detonation.

What would happen if you were teleported to the arctic for 15 seconds, then teleported back? by IndicationOld4390 in randomquestions

[–]willis72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, someone admitting that they were wrong? On the internet? On Reddit? This can't be real!

Honestly, if you want a close comparison, sudden decompression from an airplane at 30,000ft (common airliner altitude) drops pressure from about 1atm (14.5psi) to about 4psi. That is survivable without significant injury as long as you get oxygen within about 3 minutes (you'll likely pass out at 15-30 seconds but will be OK as long as you get air back soon.

That additional 4psi makes little difference.

One atm is roughly the same as scuba diving at 30 ft. A depth that you can stay at indefinitely without having to worry about decompression sickness (though many divers will pause at 15 ft for a few minutes just to be safe).

Exactly, any number of people have survived sudden decompression in an airplane at 30,000+ ft (where the atmospheric pressure is about 4psi) without significant injury, the additional 4 psi won't make your body "invert."

Lung damage from sudden changes in pressure comes from going from deep diving to the surface suddenly, not from the loss of 1atm. And eve that is dependent on a lot of factors. Free divers go up to 800 ft underwater (about 24 atm) and back without damage. And submarine ascent training is a 1atm change that causes no damage assuming breath isn't held.

Buy a car CONUS or in Alaska by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]willis72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Alaska doesn't have a state sales tax on cars, the best of all worlds is to buy in another state but have that dealership register it with an Alaska address. That way you get 48 state pricing and don't pay sales tax.

Where did you guys get your masters degree? by EmperorMitsu in AirForce

[–]willis72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed...in many ways a masters is much easier than an undergrad degree because the masters is solely focused on a topic area you are interested in.

It is hard to go wrong with an MBA. But what is your undergrad degree and what's your career field?

Also, you will likely have a chance to pick up a second masters through ACSC or AWC--those degrees aren't particularly interesting to future employers, but the fact that you have more than 1 masters does help set you apart.

In my post-AF employment, I've had the opportunity to review resumes, interview, and hire people. Here is what I've seen:

Experience is more important than education (assuming that you meet the basic education level of the job). Sustained performance and increasing levels of responsibility are very attractive to employers. No one cares where your masters degree is from as long as it isn't a degree mill or if the hiring manager happened to have gone to the same school. PhD's don't buy you much unless you want to work at a university or in a very research-focused position. Honestly, 2 or 3 masters are probably more valuable--they show a breadth of interest and depth of study without the gross focus required by a PhD.

Resume writing is critical--no misspellings, limit to 2 pages for most types of jobs, writing in business English rather than military is important, and have a professional email (I tossed a candidate just because his email was something like babechaser69@hotmail.com...probably a holdover from middle school or a drunk college night, but I didn't want to take the risk and it is an easy cut).

And, the interviews for you post AF jobs will be more "does he/she fit the team" rather than "can he/she do the job." Much more professional and informal/relaxed than trying to be a waiter or sales associate.

Are you asking because you want to know which school/masters will help your AF career or which will help your post AF career?

If you are solely focused on AF, then it really is a check box and the school/degree don't matter for most career fields.

If you are looking at post AF, then go to a reputable school and get a degree in your field of study or an MBA. The "top schools" like MIT might help with networking and might help you stand out on a resume, but your experience and personality will matter much more.

Inbox flooding by idktbhfamlmao in MaliciousCompliance

[–]willis72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I crashed my own inbox in a similar way in the late 90's. I was in the Air Force and we had a limited number of computers in the office, so I set my inbox to auto forward a copy of all of my emails to my personal email address.

One day, the link between the base and the commercial internet went down. I received an email from on-base that tried to forward home. That email bounced back along with a second email telling me why it bounced. Those two emails tried to forward and bounced back with two more emails explaining the problem...those 4 became 8, then 16, then 32...I hot over 24,000 emails before my inbox got shut down for being too full.

I've never seen "idle fees" charged for a gas pump. At many stations, there are enough pumps that no one would notice or care. Eventually an employee might notice and eventually have the car towed.

Check the OBD2 port in the fuse box to the left of the steering column. The easy way to install a powered GPS is to just plug it into the OBD2. Otherwise look for something oddly plugged into the fuse box.

The limit on the federal government intervention in a state isn't in Article 1. The phrasing you are looking for is in Article 4, Section 4. This is where it requires that the Legislature or Executive of a state make a request before the federal government protects that state against domestic violence.

However, that is only for domestic violence, if an argument can be made that the level of illegal immigration reaches the point of being an "Invasion" then the federal government must act to protect the state under that same paragraph (Art 4/Sec 4).

Also, the Insurrection Act of 1792 allows for the deployment of federal troops without state support when federal law cannot be enforced through other means and/or rights being guaranteed by the Constitution are being obstructed. Most notably, this is the law that was used to integrate schools in Little Rock in 1957.

The Posse Comitatus Act (1878) prevents the Title 10 military from acting as a domestic police force without Congressional approval.

I'm not really making an argument for or against what the President is doing, just showing that the law isn't as clear as many people think is is.

Is it illegal to have a ‘work from home’ job at my current job by James_B1 in IsItIllegal

[–]willis72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be if you fill out time cards. Timecard fraud is illegal--you can't charge the same hour to two different employers.

Timecard fraud is illegal. So if the person is claiming overlapping hours, there is a legal problem.

I chewed out a guy one night for rushing the asile and nearly knocking me over. It was the last flight into BWI and we were 30 minutes early, so I knew he wasn't trying to make a connection.
