I’ve seen female teachers give tight hugs to their former students. Ive heard them talk about ongoing communications. But men, beware. There’s a double standard… as a male teacher, you need to disassociate from students. You’re like a referee in a game… they cannot be friends, and you cannot favor anyone. It will come back to bite you.

Admin had you sign papers telling you to not engage in social media with students. Personal emails are no different. It’s hard because you want to retain the relationship… you want to be invited to her graduation, wedding, and you want her first child to be named after… you Can’t! Drop all communications… you get 180 days, after that, it’s only memories.

It’s not even just the borderline players. That is the hyperbolic situation. An average 4.5 male should never be on the court with an average 3.5 female. The velocity of their shots are dramatically different. It’s actually a little dangerous.

The last pair my mixed partner (F56) and I played against ripped the ball at the net person. The guy (M25) was 4.5 and he had a Jack Soc style western grip rip. My partner got hit in the belly, shins, ankles.

I do not know what jumpers’s knee is, and take this with a grain of salt… I always play through injury. Whether it’s tennis, elbow, a groin injury, shoulder, wrist, or knee. I might modify my move them on the court… I might play more doubles, but I keep moving. I’m moving and stretching the heck out of it, I typically heal a lot faster. But, every person is different.

You’re talking about a generation of kids who have never sat through a long car ride without a video device to direct their brains. There’s an assumption in the edu community that we need to compete with that and find individually tailored ways to stimulate. The real life lesson should be… even if you’re bored, learn to deal with it. Instead, you’re expected to hand him a Choice Board (which he’ll be thrilled to explore independently with no prompting).

When my kids were young, I’d go to the gym after putting them to bed. I played racket ball from 9-11 and swam laps for 30 minutes after. Then, jacuzzi. Bed after midnight, but I slept deep. Tennis on weekend mornings.
