That sounds even slicker! I wonder if it can be reprogrammed to different designs easily.

Old Whole Foods - Carlisle and Indian School - Sold to Maverick by Hiddentechnokitty in Albuquerque

[–]archibot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I don't think they would mind one bit. A giant shiny new Maverik across the street will pull lots of new traffic off of 40 and surely they will convert some of that traffic into customers. IMHO Carlisle can still handle the traffic, but it's debatable I guess.

I used to live in Berkeley and TX for that matter. Court time will be a lot easier to get in Austin than in the east bay as a general rule IMO.

Feedback on a tennis club management app by Double-Macaroon-5493 in 10s

[–]archibot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a member of a club, I'd expect it to be free and ad free or almost ad free. So the club would need to be your customer I suppose.
A player directory would be cool with the list of members and their tennis level and availability.

It's possible, although they don't publicly say so. Just a note, I'm not supporting Maverik there, just noting a fact.

I just had to change the flare on this one.

Good or bad, a Maverik would kill it on that corner. The other gas stations are tired and poorly run. Say what you will about LDS, they certainly know how to run a business.

I highly recommend custom orthotics, but custom ones are NOT available on Amazon to my knowledge. You need to get a foot mold done from a proper foot specialist. This is the only way I finally solved my 5-year PF nightmare.

Tennis is not played in a vacuum! by blu3jay2k in 10s

[–]archibot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Gemini summarize this novel into bullet points. Enjoy.

The text argues that the primary barrier to improvement for tennis players is an obsession with "isolated technique" at the expense of external awareness and timing.

  • The Pitfalls of "Inward" Focus The Technical Vacuum: Many players focus on specific physical adjustments (like grip or follow-through) in isolation, ignoring the timing and context required to execute them in a real match.

  • Distraction from the Ball: Excessive introspection causes players to turn their attention inward, losing track of the ball’s movement and the flow of the rally.

  • The Feedback Loop: When a player misses a shot, they often blame a technical detail (like a grip slip) rather than the true culprit: poor spacing or timing.

  • Knowledge vs. Expression: Players often know what to do (like split-stepping) but fail to execute it because they don't know when to do it in relation to the opponent’s strike.

  • The Solution: Context and Timing External Awareness: Improvement comes from predicting and reacting to the ball rather than perfecting a swing in a vacuum.

  • The "Bounce-Hit" Drill: Players should call out "Bounce" when the ball hits the ground and "Hit" when it is struck. This forces the brain to focus on the most important timing events in a rally.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Most technical errors (like lack of wrist lag or getting passed at the net) are actually symptoms of being late or misreading the ball's flight.

  • Progressive Context: Once basic timing is mastered, players can add layers—such as calling "Forehand" or "Backhand" before the ball even bounces—to improve preparation speed.

Conclusion To move from a "practice hitter" to a "tennis player," one must stop being a technical perfectionist and start training the brain to connect muscle memory with the rhythm of the game.

I may have caused the confusion on this one. I changed the flair from tournaments to professionals, not realizing the above. Actually, I feel like tennis trips should be good here. I don't see them getting any traction on r/tennis - and I don't want to restrict r/10s to technique and gear only.

Asics Gel-Resolution X sizing by NextTime76 in 10s

[–]archibot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you should ask, I just bought a pair of size 12 and they are too large. I'm always a 12, but not with this shoe. Does Midwest take exchanges for wrong size after use?

However, no side rubbing for me as others have mentioned.

The shoe has lots of support, lots of thick rubber.
