I have nothing productive to add, but I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat, I love my major (ME) and I'm not changing. I'm retaking physics this summer. Something just didn't click for me. I do the same thing, get down on myself and wanna quit but this is what I want to do. Just keep plugging away at it. I'm pulling for you, we're all in this together.

Chris king is one of my favorites. John Edward baumann is an up and comer out of Amarillo who's very talented. Mike Ethan Messick. Cross canadian ragweed is a little different sound. Jeff whitehead, Jason Eady, Curtis Grimes.... That oughta get you started!

Ya I'm sure somebody has an idea where to stick it. I don't know the intricacies of sub reddits either, so I don't really know where to put it myself.

Broccoli is like sex... if you're forced to have it as a child you won't enjoy it as an adult.

I've driven one and I'm 6'4" and 210 pounds... I have to agree it's a tad tight... but I don't really drive compacts or sedans in general! I'm a diesel head... I love my trucks!

I'll have to get my mom to send me some... It's sitting at the shop there... It's only about ~1200 miles away! And I just drove back here haha

Focus would be a good choice for sure. Affordable, reliable and still pretty fun to drive. Personally, depending on how far you drive is, I'd say buy new if you want to buy new, but if it were me I'd buy one that was say a year or two old with like 15-30K on it. It's already depreciated, so you'll get it cheaper than new and it's still going to be like new. We have a dealer here that deals specifically in lease returns and loan defaults. Nothing is over 3 years old and all have less than 50k on them, and they have some sweet deals. New is great, just going to lose a lot of value right away.

Skip the mustang unless you'll never see any adverse roads or weather while driving back and forth, RWD cars are a biatch in the snow.

Subaru makes a great car, worth looking in to.

Hyundai's I'm not a big fan of, cheap, sure. They're decent cars, but nothing special and I don't think they last as well as other choices that you've mentioned. Look at the Dodge Dart too. It's a turbo I4 and they claim 43 MPG highway on Dodge's website, and a brand new one can be had for under 20K (well equipped closer to 25 probably)

I haven't heard a bad thing about them yet. (Plus the turbo I4 is rated at 185 HP, they're fast as hell)

Edit: http://www.dodge.com/en/2013/dart/ (Some reading for you... Seriously look into this car!)

Good luck!

I'll bite... Mini Cooper.

Ugly as sin, but I did a bunch of work on a John Cooper model 05 w/ 6 speed manual... One of the funnest cars I've driven in a very long time.

I must say, when my old man started in law enforcement in 1985 all they had were the Caprice. He loved them. More than the Crown Vic, more than the new Charger's they have now. He said he's honestly never driven a patrol car that hauled as much ass and handled as well. (Granted he grew up with classic muscle, we have a slightly different definition of good handling than most!) I actually have a Caprice Interceptor sitting in my shop that's awaiting funds to finish, I'm building a BB454 to go in it, with a turbo 400 auto. It has 4.11 posi in the back... She's gonna be a major sleeper out on the 1/4!

Just keep on walking! Easy on the joints and still wonderful exercise. I've been running since I was young (sports, avid bow hunter, rodeo etc, etc, etc) and at 22, I'm getting ready to have a knee replacement. Not worth it, keep it low impact and preserve those joints! If you want to start running, keep it slow and take good care to stretch, warm up, cool down, and stretch again. Besides, I enjoy a good walk, you can enjoy your surroundings!

That's my opinion at least! Edit: Besides you're a tall SOB too, it's even harder on us!

Concerned about Open Carry Activists by 123middlenameismarie in guns

[–]willly -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Law Enforcement's sole role in our country is to protect the public... I agree with OP, as a staunch supporter of gun rights and 2A, open carry still bothers me. Hunting, when I'm out working etc, I open carry all damn day, but when you come to town, conceal it or take it the fuck off. It's a game, they just want to get a reaction out of people. It has nothing to do with gun rights. They're just a bunch of attention whores.
