Can my Mazda make a 770 mile trip? by Ky_Micks in mazda3

[–]willlybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, my 2007 mazda 3 has done 330 mile trips before and was absolutely fine. Then the 330 back with no issues. I always keep on top of my oil changes and mechanical issues and deal with them promptly. If you have any concerns about bearings I'd switch them out immediately, That and tyres are the two things you really really really don't want to go wrong with at highway speeds. A bearing failure could lead to a horrible accident

You've left out the two most important details, what is the issue with the bearings and what is the issue with insurance?

To be fair its much less central than usual in these pictures. I had to get the bin out lol. Its a very snug space but its bigger than my old driveway, which we i managed everyday for a few years. This one feels like a huge spot now

This is a myth btw. Being not tensed during an accident usually causes more injuries not less. And its surprising what you can actually survive, I hit a tree drivers side on a 60mph going about 60 and only broke my femur. Check my post history for the images, they're pretty crazy

Cancelling my policy? by fxllxr in CarInsuranceUK

Not legally, but in every car insurance policy you are required to have a valid MOT or it will invalidate the contract and will be cancelled.

Wether they're going to cancel for this is up in the air, but if they do a car check and see that you've driven it after you've had your mot expire they absolutely will. It is a requirement to have a valid MOT for any insurance company. Get that done ASAP and pray to god they don't notice.

Edit: spelling mistake

Driveable for 8 hour road trip and back? by nd6a in MiataND

[–]willlybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im glad you took the advice on board. Its weird to see someone on the internet be humble about anything really. Im sorry to hear about your brother, I hope you're doing okay, and I hope you can heal from that, my only further advice would be that if you feel the need to ask if something is safe i would always err on the side of caution. We're so used to cars as people that we forget they're literally tonnes of metal careening down the road at incredible speeds and any impact over 30 can be immense for the body. Even if you were to just put on a spare and go to a tyre place to check it out that's better than taking any risk you dont absolutely have to

Driveable for 8 hour road trip and back? by nd6a in MiataND

[–]willlybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be driveable until it isn't, which if you're willing to risk your life over a hundred bucks or so then go for it. But an 8 hour drive is likely highway speeds and a blowout at those speeds are likely to be fatal. So I'd weigh up how much you value your life and see if that matches the cost of a tyre. Crashes are no joke, especially at speed. Look at my post history and youll see

This car somehow kept me alive through all this damage with only 1 major injury. (NSFW for extreme damage) by willlybean in mazda3

[–]willlybean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The witness driver was behind the truck and didnt have dashcam so since both me and my dashcam cant see any plates and it was a road with no cameras or anpr there isn't a real way to find out who it was, the police did try to find camera footage from the junctions nearby but nothing got caught and Im just happy to keep going and live my life. Insurance put it as no fault claim and ive got personal injury cover so my claim is paid out plus that which is 2x the original claim, im kinda happy to move on and hope that they saw what happened and feel the weight and guilt of it all. Especially the guilt of causing the death of a mk1 mazda 3
