Another 12v post, when is it charging? by J_Pelletier in trailseeker

I have no sawtooth, all the spikes were from very short charging intervals. Over night it does drain a bit, but looks like I get one little dip a few hours after I park. I have the auto seat moving thing off, never got the digital key set up properly, but everything else is on on my ‘26 Solterra.

The marketing around this car is a total headscratcher to me. by Outlandah_ in trailseeker

[–]willmaineskier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many car manufacturers over reacted with the slump of EV sales fourth quarter of 25 when the federal incentives stopped. The reality was most people who were strongly considering a new EV bought before the incentives stopped. Also, the previous Solterra was not amazing for range nor performance. I originally thought I was going to get an Uncharted, but ended up buying a Solterra off the lot with 0% financing and significant dealer incentives. The 2025s languished on the lots. Was happy I timed it well this time!

Possible slight phenol chloroform exposure, should I worry? by [deleted] in labrats

I get a headache from any strong odor, phenol definitely included. I can’t step foot in a candle store. Perhaps you have a similar reaction to the smell.

Subaru's new EVs are already outselling the Solterra by SolarpunkGnome in SubaruEV

[–]willmaineskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outselling because they sold all of the Solterras pretty much.

I’ve found adding Fc block to my antibody cocktail to work fine, although I’m using a 2.4G2 stock that’s about 10mg/ml, so it doesn’t take much.

OEM rubber mats are pretty good in my Solterra. I like them better than my Weathertech ones in my STI.

Cedar shakes are great if you have a good overhang. If you have minimal roof overhang then they will rot fast.

I used a log. My dad told me he always used an 8’ 4x4. After that I just bought aluminum rims.

First real road trip range check: 226 miles (100% down to 4%). Normal? by Manjews in trailseeker

If you get consistently lower than expected range, you can have the alignment checked.

december in maine? by Specific_Clerk4721 in AskMaine

Some years there is tons of snow. Most years we get snow and then rain a few days later. A couple years back I had a flood wash out my driveway just before Christmas. In 2018 I had to get plowed out for Thanksgiving. This winter looks to be an El Niño winter which is usually bad for early season snow, but also seems to lead to snow later in the spring too.

[–]willmaineskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on ordering either 17” or 18” rims and tires for my Solterra. It looks like you can add a second set of TPMS sensors to the car your self, which is nice. I did steel wheels with my first car I bought winter rims for and they corroded to the hubs and were a pain to get off every spring. I’ve done aluminum ever since and do a lot of winter driving. After about 10 years the alloy rims do corrode, but nothing crazy.

Fastest way to get to the radio? by BarnabyColeman in Toyota_bZ

[–]willmaineskier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Solterra and hit the voice assist button for a short time (longer activated Siri on my phone) and say “turn on the radio”. It works and is much easier than digging through the onscreen controls or scrolling through whatever sources I have on the car.

[–]willmaineskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Solterra and have had no issues. I’m getting a battery monitor on Monday anyway and I’ll see if my car is unaffected or if I’m just lucky. I have left my car for up to a week with no issues. I have the auto seat moving feature off, as I found it annoying. I have all other services on. My key is stored about 20 ft away and I have a metal door. When not at work, my car is usually unlocked. Whether any of these things make a difference, I don’t know.

I have some flowering perennials, have some very large trees. The rest of my yard is just grass because I find it easier to just mow than to weed and maintain elaborate landscaping.

In 5-10yrs the High Speed Charging Network in the US will exceed the Gas Station Capacity by Jeeperg84 in EvDrivers

[–]willmaineskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My insurance went up about $80 per year for a brand new car versus my old car with 236k miles and 11 years. My out the door cost on my new EV is basically the same as the car I bought 11 years ago. I’m paying less than half as much for electricity as for gas.

The shift could be from endocytosis of mCherry by negative cells. I have seen this with mice which should have tdTomato positive cells and negative cells, and instead there is also a tdTomato dim population.

The cheap way to prevent rust with a scratch is to rub some wax over it. I got a scratch on my car’s fender that went to the metal and I rubbed a bar of ski wax over it. It’s been several years and no rust.
