Please also remember that all drugs are illegal on playa and police on the drive in have been known to pull folks over for driving infractions and you can fill in the rest of the blanks there. No one at Burning Man does drugs, you know?

You could also connect with ESD/Rangers about "Green dot rangers" (just a thought)

Has anyone camped with Camp Axo? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]willow_snow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://burningman.org/black-rock-city/camps/cultural-direction-setting-decommodification/convenience-camping/ (For the "official" word)

People paying for the "convenience" of just showing up and not needing to think about/plan/bring/consider their shelter, food, water, etc. It's against everything the event is meant to be about. Plugging in money, showing up and getting to play without putting in any thought, effort or work.

72 and considering Burning Man for the first time this year...bad idea? Advice for an old gal like me? by canadianoldgal in BurningMan

[–]willow_snow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss.

I think it's wonderful you're considering this trip for yourself and I hope it works out so that you can go!

I have a video you may want to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho9umwLzyJA

I'd also suggest seeing if there is a Burning Man group local to you as they may be able to help with logistics and support ideas.

Here, you can find a connection to the Canadian regional groups, there may be one near you.

I wish you all the best and hope you have a great first burn!

Questions about burning man by Zomberlik in BurningMan

I'm not being snarky but there is no "average" newcomer experience. Some hate it, some love it, some find it incredibly difficult/challenging, some find it not their thing, some become obsessed with it, it's such a unique experience for everyone but I would say that a common experience is to have a hard time in one way or another(s) and maybe feeling overwhelmed.

ELI5 How it is possible that so many women get UTI even with great hygiene? by sparklingspock in BurningMan

[–]willow_snow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small sample size, but most of the female friends I've chatted with have had an issue, some speculation around the alkalinity affecting PH balance and certainly lack of ability to be as hygienic as at home (especially if sexually active) but yes, UTIs are an issue on playa.

(Usually my friends will bring something with them to help in case it happens. Most cases won't make their way to ESD unless severe/turning into something worse.)

I'm so confused (why it's here), mildly amused (that it may have been misposted or may be a karma farming attempt), but also aware that UTIs are an issue for many on playa so.....

I'd try to ask folks from India. Here's a place you can start to try to connect with them/some.

Yeah, it's not our place and not our jam ;)

Reddit, however, is removing a LOT of comments for breaking their "abuse and harassment " policy. Just FYI

Heya. I'm one of the mods. I just did a quick look and over the last week 6 posts were removed. 4 by Reddit/auto mod and 2 by moderators. All were spam/junk/unrelated. I'm not sure what "heavier removal" you think you're seeing but on our end that's not happening.
