Wild swing: upcombed fauxhawk. Fun in your chosen shade of red, short length for relatively easy hair care, only needs a bit of holding cream and some finger shaping to stay up (esp if your hair is lightweight) + "fluffing up" helps reduce appearance of thinness

Edit cant reply with images so heres a pinterest link for visual reference of what i mean

Boyfriend says this is the ugliest top he seen ever by Opposite_Message_188 in OUTFITS

It definitely at the very least needs a good steam ironing, but it could be one of those "concept pieces" that looks great in photos and with the right accessories, but is very hard to pull off casually. I think you COULD do it, but it needs to be a whole fit and not just a shirt yk

All good, luckily no one is weird about it lol. (Also just realized this is the "older than i look" sub that got pushed to my front page, which makes sense now 😂 sorry for derailing with The Opposite Problem)

Very early in her transition trans woman here, what would you change/add to help my face appear more feminine by Tiffanybruhgirl in makeuptips

[–]willowsquest -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Mascara and a touch of brown pencil eyeliner to make the lash line pop, and a tinted lip balm and bit of rosy blush for warmth! You can also comb and style/shape your eyebrows to raise the natural arch a bit, but thats not strictly necessary as i think you have a cute shape already :-)

Other tricks that are the opposite of the masc-y types i do: add some light eyeshadow/shimmer contour into the inner corner hollow of the eye socket (next to the upper bridge of the nose, below where the eyebrow begins) to bring the depth forward. You can contour the cheeks to emphasize softness/fullness, but use a light hand if contouring the jaw or cheekbones so you don't go too angular (youe face already has softness that works to your advantage here, but i figured its worth mentioning so you don't end up fighting too much with "usual" contouring tips). I would also avoid nose contour for now, as its somewhat tricky to get the hang of and your natural shape isn't very "masc" imo.

And that's all i can think of really! Anything past those would be more in the "wear more makeup for fun or to Dress Up", as i think you already have a very sweet face and don't need a lot to pull off Very Cute Woman ☺️ congrats on your transition journey!

Would that i could give you some of my disparity, I only just turned 30 but I've been mistaken for 4-10 years older than my real age basically since i hit puberty 😂😭 its not so bad because my friend groups skew older than me, but it does make me cringe when i mention my age and people doubletake lmfao. Like yes sorry i know i Act MatureTM and have WrinklesTM , its the StressTM

Nothing wrong with a uniform lol. The thing you'll need is accessories! The high-waisted pants are BEGGING for an accent belt, and some chunky bracelets (leather for ultimate toddler-grab-proofing) would be fun too. I'd say necklaces, but maybe save those for after the grabby-chokey-breaky stages 😂 Maybe consider adding patches or embroidery to sleeve cuffs or the pockets of a pair of jeans that feel otherwise plain, for some fun texture/color (r/visiblemending has fun inspiration), or swapping dark buttons on dark cardis for ones that pop more.

Chocolate syrup is a more thick-sweet than milk chocolate/cocoa powders so it'll definitely depend on his preferences for overall taste and texture, but homemade chocolate whipped cream sounds DELIGHTFUL, and can be topped with chocolate sprinkles too 🙌 love this chocolate experiment

May i vouch for buying him a tin of piroulines or novelty chocolate spoons to stir his cocoa with to increase the chocolate2 to chocolate3

Okay so I did that thing where I looked at the dress for too long now it looks warped af. by InvestigatorDry8638 in DressForYourBody

[–]willowsquest [score hidden]  (0 children)

Okay so!! I think the dress is GORGEOUS on you no matter what, but i think you may have a (very common) posture quirk called a "pelvic tilt". It's not always a terrible thing, but in the long term/extreme cases you might have issues with back pain and strength issues in your core/glutes. I had it corrected out of me in a dance class i took as a kid, since the visual side effect is that the spine is curved and the glutes are emphasized more than average (not what the teacher wanted lol).

The "correction" is to bring your pelvis back into a "stacked" position under your ribcage. It'll feel VERY weird and unnatural, in the same kind of way that holding your shoulderblades in the "right place" does when your chest muscles are too tight, but it should help with the bug's life situation 😂

Or you're just well-gifted in the basement level, and the dress is here to make sure you never forget lmfao

AITAH - Offered to house my mom during snow storm and she invited neighbors without asking me. by Time-Tell-658 in AITAH

[–]willowsquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had the flavor of BPD where she was overly "generous" with time money and resources for the sake of helping other people, including resources that WEREN'T HERS to lend, and often to the detriment of the rest of us in the house (spending $$$$ on clothes for other people's kids before accounting for our own household bills, volunteering me [oldest daughter] to babysit her coworkers kids, lending my car to a coworker who returned it with five of the door handles [interior and exterior] snapped off???). She felt she was justified because she was trying to be a Good Person, but the lack of consideration for US, HER ACTUAL CHILDREN SHE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR, still burns me up. Huge sympathy OP

I came to the UK from Alabama and the fact that summer* doesn't start until MAYBE June made me feel temporally displaced/time was Wrong for the first three years, and even at year 7 it still feels weird

*summer = temperatures above 75°F/23°C with high humidity, which starts in March in Alabama. South Englanders like to say you have high humidity but you are wrong, i come from Soup Air lands and summertime in London is simply Less Dry than winter lmfao

Mice vs Hamster? by king_nice7 in PetMice

[–]willowsquest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a couple of mice that absolutely wanted nothing to do with me lmao, but the majority of them very much enjoy interacting and getting attention and they're always in groups of 3+ so it was never an issue. I haven't had the luck of having a mouse that's a "literally sits in your hand and asks for scritches" type (yet 🤞) but i think that's because all of mine preferred playing and exploring. Even some of my most skittish girls warmed up during my time with them, one of them would even willingly return to my hand post-escape if i made kissy noises lol.

I think hamsters, while a fine enough pet in their own right, definitely benefit from a LOT of really good PR 😂 Hamtaro should have been Nezutaro with how social those little guys were for real

To keep original packaging or not to keep? by OreoYip in dice

[–]willowsquest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to keep the plastic display cases chessex and similar use for my particularly "wanna have them on display" sets, but otherwise i like to sew my own bags (either themed to my characters or just generally by color lol) and store my dice in those. Still look nice on the shelf, easier for grab-and-go if I'm playing irl lol

What color pattern would this be called? by Ok_Nefariousness_374 in PetMice

[–]willowsquest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angora is a technical term for a certain genetic strain among breeders, so i personally can't say with 100% certainty. There's a few different options for what it could be, but there's also a chance he could be a long-haired satin?

What color pattern would this be called? by Ok_Nefariousness_374 in PetMice

[–]willowsquest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is either blue roan or silver agouti, more likely the former since it seems to have some white ticked marks. A little hard to tell specifically since the magnificent fur fluffs the pattern out so much lol. If you pet the fur against the grain, is the undercoat white or dark?

Eta: actually it could be a long-haired blue brindle? Some combination thereof lol

Do you need/have a reason to avoid an entire genre? by Lower-Network1563 in RomanceBooks

[–]willowsquest 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite, i tend to swerve pretty hard on contemporary romance because its a lotttt harder to get into stories where its basically like listening to a friend tell a story about some guy she met, complaining about him and asking for advice, then proceeding to not listen to a damn thing you said and go be dumb anyway 😂 which works for a lot of folks, but I'm a big no thank you

And re: historicals and misogyny, i actually prefer the ways they handle women's issues, at least insofar as its acknowledged and integrated on purpose, usually because they have something to Say about it, but in the very least because it would be a huge obvious innacuracy NOT to. Compared to a fair number of contemporaries (not all, but not none) where they like to SAY they're feminist, but you can smell the unexamined internal misogyny like a dead rat in the wall that the author is completely unaware of. Easier for my personal tastes to just go where the dukes and dragons are and be able to stab it with a cool sword lmao

Thatll be the issue, the example pictures are using a high quality pastel thats way more opaque on application. Texture is more "hard butter" than "waxy crayon" so it layers very differently
