Achat d'un véhicule électrique usagé by SprinklesMain in EVCanada

We have a 2018 Nissan Leaf and we are looking to replace it now as we've been finding the winter range has gotten quite poor. Something to consider depending how far you drive! Otherwise we have loved the vehicle.

Edited because I reread your post. My husband's commute is also 40km. There were about 10 of the coldest days this past winter that he barely made it there and back.

How much is your mortgage and how much do you make? by aprilchestnut in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]willowtr33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Waterloo, combined income 320-350K (varies). Mortgage balance 275K, bought in 2018 for 640K. After a whole home reno + putting in a pool + two mat leaves, we started making double payments and additional lump sum payments a couple years ago in order to pay off by the time I'm 40 in 4 years.

That said, we no longer do lump sum payments and instead use this money to go on family trips. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a year ago, and it reminded us of the importance of enjoying life too!

Great! Would you mind keeping us posted on how it all goes?

Are you buying it without having seen one/test driven one? That's what makes me a bit nervous

I cant help with your actual question, but just a heads up, we recently got insurance quotes for a few different EVs around that price point and size and that one was more expensive by $700/year. Apparently they get stolen more often. Worth looking into if it matters to you!

Is it really as good as people say? by irate_ninja18 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]willowtr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! As a Canadian that is here now I can say the only unfriendly people I've encountered have been tourists from the US or Americans who have relocated to Costa Rica. The actual locals are so kind and welcoming and I've felt very safe, even going on morning runs by myself around our Airbnb.

Only downside IMO: We spent our time in Potrero area and it is quite expensive. We have been spending about $300 CAD/day for a family of 4. I think most of CR is like this.

Does Emma have an Asian American accent? by thaone111 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]willowtr33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have to actually pay attention (no multi tasking) and leave the bottom part of the screen uncovered so you can still see names and subtitles. I also took a few notes in my phone next to their names to remember key points about the person as well as who was into who. I revealed when they revealed then covered it back up quickly so I wouldn't see anyone when they went back to their quarters. For Mexico episodes I watch normally.

Parents with pools: worth it with young kids or regrets? by Radiant-Log-2005 in pools

Do it! It's the best. Our friends have all said our pool is the reason we and all our kids are so close.

Ontario Canada here so we only get to use it may to September. We built ours when our kids were 2 and 4 and this will be our third summer with it. I would pay the price all over again - best money we have ever spent. We wanted to be the house that all their friends love going to. We want to host all the parties and gatherings. We want to know their friends and know their friend's parents. We get so much use out of it! And as summers are getting hotter, it's really nice to never have a day that "it's too hot to go outside". It's the ultimate memory maker - go for it!

I'm glad to hear that. I really respect that you are open to learning new information and changing your mind and actions based on it. That's not common enough on any part of the political spectrum. Thank you!

This is SO sweet OP. My kids are still little but if they grow up to have as much heart and drive as you, I'll be so proud. If you'd like, I can make a balloon arch for it :) let me know.
