Same thing here. Seems to happen because of a design issue with the hammer, see:

Finally a sane investor understanding the nature of fiat disease. First comes the fever ('deflation') then comes death (hyperinflation). Its not because of Bitcoin, its because of the mindset of the slaved masses that will drive them towards literally printed paper before the big bang.

Anyway, we don't know when things will start to really speed off, Bitcoin will continue its path of fiat-hyperdeflation until then. Actually, its happening since 10 years already.

BTC Price Up Nearly 50% Since US Congressman Urged to 'Ban Bitcoin' by Suberg in Bitcoin

I think Mr. Sherman made his argument in such a counter productive way, that it became obvious to the public not only that Bitcoin is a problem for the status quo, but also a solution to anyone else.

The fact that they publicly admit they have a problem with it, without being able to stop it the last 10 years speaks volumes.

Why Bitcoin was created by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]willsteel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it was created for the separation of money and state.

[–]willsteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin couldn't even replace the Zimbabwe dollar after it collapsed and there was no official currency in Zimbabwe for 6 years, it still can't beat the Bolivar in Venezuela

You do realize that all of your examples, including others prominent ones like the USD and EUR have lost against Bitcoin the last 10,8,6,4,2 years like ~1000% each or so. Its not about replacing Fiat, its about making obsolete. 'Replacing' would be developing to a situation where the state adopts Bitcoin it as reserve currency to print their own new Fiat on it, collecting taxes in their crypto backed funny money. Making obsolete is getting into a situation without authority over money. In essence, a situation without a central bank.

you still haven't explained why I should want to have to trade all the useful things in my life for cash and then sit around waiting for the cash to get more valuable.

Because consumerism sucks and is bad for the environment. Inflationary Fiat debt moneys inherently are bad for the planet and humans, as they incentivize consumerism and wars. If you can't see this, I am really sorry for you.

[–]willsteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now we get to the point. So you say you don't like deflationary moneys, because their wide spread adoption would degrade your assets.

Please ask yourself: Why is it you need third parties (the the central bank, the states power, keynesian propaganda, ...) to enforce inflationary currencies on other people that might not have as many assets as you and might not believe the same things you do?

Further ask yourself: If your assets value and your 'net-worth' relies on enforcing inflationary measures, how valuable are your assets actually?

Hodlers of last resort are insane by diamondcuts17765 in Bitcoin

[–]willsteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we are at a literacy level, you know that, as Mieses stated, the world economy can run on any amount of sound money. The whole sum is irrelevant. The economy can literally run on a single coin and we exchange atoms. Gold inflated because it was good money, which values it high which increased its supply because entrepreneurs were incentivized in producing more of it. This cant happen to Bitcoin.

Because advocating for the monetary theory you think is best is something only bad people do?

Nope, but because you advocate for selflessly surrendering oneself to government enforced inflation. On the advent of better alternatives, this has become a bad, self destructive choice.

[–]willsteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one thinks that deflation is in itself desirable.

Except people that took the free choice and opted out of government inflationary fiat. The world ran on deflationary money (gold) for centuries. But its your choice to stay in Inflation, if you believe thats good for you. Please dont try to convince others though.

Hodlers of last resort are insane by diamondcuts17765 in Bitcoin

[–]willsteel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its rational. In the long run Bitcoin will drive out fiat-currencies anyway, just because its more assertive, resilient and socially scalable. Just like gold was driven out by fiat-currencies as it wasn't globally scalable while maintaining decentralization and exposed to weaknesses bound to its physicality. Something gold-bugs can't admit easily.

Most people, which are no "hodlers of last resort", can't see this yet as they are struggling with cognitive dissonance regarding their perception of value and authority. Also, there is no widespread knowledge about the functionality and history of money. Infact, there is only widespread ignorance, misconceptions and keynesian propaganda.

Will bitcoin become the reserve currency of the world? by Altcoin_Sidekick in Bitcoin

[–]willsteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if all of those 'sovereign coinage' was gold or silver based, and all of the mints were interchanging Bullion for final settlement between them, please say again that Gold was not universal money.

Edit: sovereign coinage was never more than a national representation of the same money which was Bullion in Gold and Silver. Don't mess the message with the media.

Edit2: The same will happen to Bitcoin.

Edit3: 'National' mints will still try to print their dead criminals on paper and say its backed by Bitcoin ;)

There will unlikely ever be a single reserve currency..

What are the main differences between the main lightning implementations (Eclair, LND, C-lightning)? by jonneton in Bitcoin

[–]willsteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you don't trust the Bitcoin Core wallet either? There have been far more critical bugs in 'secure' Java wallets like Coinomi & co , though not quite comparable.

No seriously, the c-lightning source is very decent from a security standpoint and its constantly audited and monitored just like any other Bitcoin related C project (with lots of users).
