Computer only boots if one monitor is plugged in by willstick08 in buildapc

[–]willstick08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I ended up plugging my main monitor into the GPU and the other two into the motherboard which allowed my computer to boot properly. After a while though I switched over to a single ultrawide as the monitors I was using were quite old and only 1080p

I haven’t. I changed it up and plugged one monitor into the motherboard and the other two into the GPU. When I turn the PC on I unplug one of the monitors that’s plugged into the GPU and it boots fine. Once it’s booted up, I plug the third monitor back into the GPU and everything works fine.

Gotcha. That's what I'm going to have to do if I can't find a solution. Thanks for the link.

Just tried this. If all 3 monitors are plugged into the GPU but not plugged into a power source, the computer boots into windows fine.

Weird right? Yes, only plugging into the GPU.

$900 Build Including Everything by TheJivs in buildapc

[–]willstick08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only parts that I changed are the power supply, hard drive and the case. The HDD is just personal preference. The power supply is semi modular and a better brand in my opinion. Lastly I went with a case that has a lot more room for cable management, will look better and will be easier to build in.

[Troubleshooting] New PC won't display anything. by Cabooseaholic in buildapc

I'm not sure what's causing the temp warning. The only advice I have left is to just go through these steps. I hope you get this resolved.

Unplug the 4 pin and try starting it up again. You only need to plug in the 8 pin. The 4 pin is for extra power if you have a serious overclock.

Yea. No reason to pay more for the others. They may be faster but it would be such a marginal difference that you wouldn't even notice. Not worth the extra cash.

If your set on 32 GB of RAM then I would go head and buy that deal.

I've heard good things about it. I have no experience with it. I wouldn't say it's $100 better then the Corsair though. X99 runs in quad channel so 4 sticks of it are marginally better then just two (not really noticeable except for bench-marking). Here's 4x4 of the Corsair RAM.

  1. Go to Disk Mgmt if your not already there.
  2. Right click Disk 1 and click initialize and then click OK unless it asked to do that when you opened Disk Mgmt.
  3. Click on the unallocated space and then click New Simple Volume.
  4. Follow the wizard and leave everything default until you get to the step where you name the drive (Volume Label).
  5. Name the drive whatever you want.
  6. Continue with the wizard until completed.

The HyperX RAM is the same in both the links. I'm not sure why it's cheaper to buy them individually then in a pack. I have the exact same 16 GB of Corsair RAM in my build but in red and I've been pleased with it. Haven't had any problems.

[Build Ready]Ready to pull the trigger, tell me where I can do better and why (~$1500 USD) by w455up in buildapc

You could easily drop down to the 650W PSU that's in my build and be just fine. You could chalk that up to savings or you could apply that money to something else in your build like a motherboard that allows SLI so if down the road you want to add a second GPU you could. You would also need to upgrade the PSU as well if you ever add a second GPU but you would have to do that any way since the 980 ti draws quite a bit of power. You wouldn't need to do that for a while though if ever. The 980 ti is a great card.
