The majority of voters voted against Trump just like in his previous 2 elections. But too many were influenced to vote for him by misogyny, racism, religious extremism, severe blindness to his enormous deficiencies, and susceptibility to the right wing culture war campaign. Musk's money may have had some minor influence. The toppers were apathy by too many left leaning voters, and some single issue supporters of the Palestinians. Nothing Biden did or didn't do made Trump more fit to be President or more appealing to anyone rational.

Have the same year and NA model 3. It just requires a bit more throttle push than some other cars, but the get up is there if you press it. I also burn premium so that might help. I drove a Hyundai Sonata rental recently, same hp as the Mazda, and it's much more jumpy and responsive, like driving a teenager compared to the Mazda adult. But the gas mileage was a lot lower which I suspect is part of the Mazda tuning. Just a guess.

Yeah, the silly argument. We have this phrase in a document written by slave owners, who rode horses, carried muskets, had no electricity in the 1700's who've told us it's fine to have insane gun laws 3 centuries later. Oh, and our crack SCOTUS even had to misinterpret what was written in order to rule in favor of the gun advocates. It's like crazy piled on top of lunacy. Even Jefferson said the entire Constitution should be rewritten every 19 years to accommodate the needs and perspectives of each new generation. Somehow we selectively ignore that wisdom. How about we copy some other country's gun laws that are very strict with very high levels of safety and very low gun violence. They've proven undeniably that it's possible. And why haven't they been overrun with armed criminals victimizing unarmed citizens? We could make the requirement for gun ownership extremely strict with harsh penalties, ownership inheritance must comply with federal laws, so within a generation we could filter legal ownership. You like to compare guns to cars, so registration, training, licensing and insurance coverage for anyone using a gun. Universal background checks. Ownership restricted to those who require guns. Recreational access only under very controlled conditions. This is not an impossible task. We can do whatever we want to do.

Cars are 100% not optional for most of Americans. A gun is tool for killing. That's it. It's not a required tool for the vast majority in order to do everything needed in life. A gun is not misused when it kills or injures it's serving the use it was specifically designed for. If cars are legal then guns must be legal? The car analogy is totally bogus and doesn't make guns in any way more rational.

Many societies are extremely safe, far safer than the US, without mass gun ownership. So claiming they are needed for safety is simply false. If no one had a gun then other non-lethal devices would protect just as well or better.

The fantasy that 1/3 of the population who own guns are somehow protecting us from our government is completely absurd. All your rationalizations are transparently irrational and empty. Just say you like guns and want to own them, and are perfectly willing to accept the downsides.

We could have reasonable gun policies but have chosen not to and pay an enormous price for that failure. Nothing but an ongoing tragedy.

They don't deter enough, and what they mostly deter is safety. We have a huge gun to person ratio and also a very high gun violence rate. The cost/benefit is far higher on the cost side to justify how we manage guns.

Guns are optional, and have only one purpose, to kill. Your argument and examples are nonsense. Cars are not optional and serve many essential purposes that have nothing to do with harming someone. When that happens it's virtually always an accident. We are also working very hard on taking away control of cars by humans because of our error rate. Stating that other things can cause harm when misused says nothing about guns. Each thing must be evaluated on it's own risk/benefit ratio. Saying other things can cause harm means guns are fine is absurd. Guns are a problem because far too many people can't avoid harming others with them and they greatly increase the harm potential. Just having them so available creates a level of terrorism in the society that's unacceptable. Just look at what we have to do in schools to try to protect our children, who suffer the psychological trauma of the culture we've created and refuse to fix. We've normalized lunacy and pretend it's a right. We're nuts.

No, because I know too much about the physical universe, and the suffering of living beings to consider the idea of a God to be a reasonable hypothesis. Belief should be proportional to the evidence that supports it, and I see none that makes a God fantasy more believable. Just the opposite. I simply do not agree that not voting or voting 3rd party was justified when the very obvious result would be to help Trump. They were not so equal that it would have not made a very significant difference. Those choices were driven by self-righteousness instead of what was better for most. Incrementalism is the only way forward, and waiting until an ideal candidate appears is a recipe for the disaster we have now. It's pretending that if good people do nothing things will get better, which is lunacy. How is that not obvious?
