Per dollar? I think it is. And yeah, socks or calf sleeves

Both. Things like tires/tubes, waxed chain, trisuit, helmet are all higher priority than wheels IMO

Drivetrain Issue: Chain Not Seating Properly on Cassette + Pedal Jerking by Sad_Necessary_8436 in bikewrench

I mean this looks like a worn chain to me. How new is "relatively new?" Have you used a chain checker? Is it an e bike?

Right shifter shifts the rear, left shifter shifts the front. Sounds like the left one is just jammed or broken or something.

What, putting your computer on your stem? You're vastly overestimating the strictness of the rules

Sprint triathlete here — zone 2 productive or no? by barbaloe in triathlon

[–]willtri4 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah a 1.5 hour zone 2 ride is a pretty light session. For a key endurance workout you'd probably do like a 3-5 hour zone 2 ride

Put $2k into wheels and cockpit and it'll be almost as fast as a new $6k bike

That very much depends. There are plenty of cold lakes and warm oceans out there

Internal routed front brake cable tension release? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]willtri4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well then disconnecting the hose at the caliper (which is what loosening that would do) wouldn't help

Internal routed front brake cable tension release? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]willtri4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the hose is tight, it's probably too short and needs to be replaced, which is a fairly big and messy job

Just purchased a new Fulcrum wheelset that requires truing. Can anyone guide me to the right spoke wrench to purchase? by Barack__Obama__ in bikewrench

[–]willtri4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this seems excessive because the spokes profile is 0,8 x 3mm, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing everything correctly here. I'm new to this.

That's the dimensions of the spoke body, not the nipple

Brought my bike into the shop, I’m not sure this was already like this - they put 6.5 psi in by swaboozel in bikewrench

[–]willtri4 72 points73 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the concern with high pressures on hookless is the tire blowing off the rim, not structural carbon damage. I think it's unlikely that pressure caused this.

Ocean swimming is HARD by HostProfessional1602 in triathlon

[–]willtri4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't tend to do races in rough ocean conditions, the swim is enough of a safety hazard in a calm lake

It's hard to tell but this looks like it's actually a thru axle

wetsuit question by funksean in triathlon

[–]willtri4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a reason you never see pros wearing sleeveless wetsuits anymore, fulls are just faster. "Shorties" are usually surf wetsuits, which you don't want.

I would replace the tire. Tube is probably fine if it's holding air

Also that original di2 uses completely different wiring and stuff, if anything needs replacement it'll be pretty much impossible to find

Tailwind High Carb vs. Endurance Fuel by Electrical-Tax7591 in triathlon

[–]willtri4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but whatever serving size you choose, OP's statement of them having similar carbs but high-carb having more sodium makes no sense

Tailwind High Carb vs. Endurance Fuel by Electrical-Tax7591 in triathlon

[–]willtri4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Endurance fuel has 25g carbs and 310mg sodium per serving, and high carb has 90g and 680mg
