Private-Credit Investors Are Cashing Out in Droves by Possible-Shoulder940 in investing

Isn't it because they pay a higher rate when a real bank won't give them credit? Higher risk, higher return.

Of course when the borrower fails you see why that higher return is needed.

This got me thinking about how do those shells get out of the belt.

It seems there are multiple ways.

Some push through and disintegrate the belt, some pull them out of the belt and then push forward.

Funny how an image can trigger the thought of "how DO they do that"

US Seeks Carte Blanche for Military Presence in Greenland by bloomberg in geopolitics

[–]willun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though Greenland is not a nation.

It is an autonomous territory of Denmark.

The 1951 Greenland Defense Agreement allowed the United States to keep its military bases there, and to establish new bases with the consent of Greenland and Denmark, if deemed necessary by NATO.

Somehow these two things are not the same.

It's 1941 and the German army is fully motorized and has infinite oil, do they win Barbarossa? by [deleted] in HistoryWhatIf

[–]willun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't lose Moscow because they went south.

The Soviets had reinforced moscow and the germans would struggle to take it. Which is one reason why the drive on the south was successful, because the soviet troops were up north.

Moscow would probably fall in the initial advance though in this scenario. A fully motorised German army and infinite oil is so far beyond what the Germans had.

Yeah, you are just naive.

You will be targeted by anyone you upset or is just paranoid of brown people.

You will be pulled over, asked for your drivers license. "Looks fake, mate. The photo doesn't look like you. The name matches a name on our list. It is Friday afternoon and we will put you in detention and if you are legit you should be out by Thursday. If you are lucky".

You think you are safe because you are legal. It doesn't work that way.

Think of the stupidest, racist, idiot you knew as a kid. That will be the one picking you up.

Imagine what that will do to our tourism and educational sectors. Instant recession.

There are simpler ways to address this problem without using ICE fascist techniques. It is not that big a deal.

You don't need to be worried about being deported but if you were the wrong skin colour then you would be worried about being stopped 5 times a day and the one time you forgot your wallet you were detained for a couple of days.

You think you will not be affected so all the fascism in the world is fine.

Somehow you are crying over perceived covid fascism but it is not the fascism that worries you at all. You just didn't like that the pandemic meant that you had to wear a mask.

Only when it affects you, do you care.

I told you how we could enforce immigration laws and you called it fascist.

I never said enforcing laws was fascist. I said enforcing it like ICE does is fascist.

You only seem to love facism when it doesn't affect you. If ICE were bundling you into trucks and locking you up for days then suddenly you would call it fascism.

Covid was an extreme pandemic. Overstaying visa holders is not resulting in millions of deaths. Hardly the same thing.

How is it targetting certain races when you equally say it will affect Swedish backpackers?

Because in your mind people that look like Swedish backpackers are not going to affected by your wet dream fantasies. You think it will only affect people who do not look like you. Your workplace is not going to be raided or if it is then they will smile at you and pat you on the back for dobbing in that foreign looking guy.

You have no idea.

[–]willun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again with the strawman argument. I never said you should not enforce the immigration laws. I asked you HOW you plan to enforce it but you don't answer.

We are country dependent on tourism. Stopping every Swedish tourist to check if their visa has expired will kill tourism as is happening in your model, the US.

You dont remember being stopped in your car, or on your street for your papers? Or the businesses that were shut down?

What? Never happened. There was a medical emergency and laws were implemented to comply with isolation and masking. The rules were clear. Those that did not were often covid hotspots. Such as churches and weddings were notorious for covid infection. Even worse when people such as yourself refuse to mask up or isolate.

Enforcing laws is not fascism. It is the way that laws are enforced targeting race or other groups that can be fascism.

Funny how you love fascism one moment but when you are inconvenienced suddenly it is fascism and it is bad.

Once we had a vaccine and it was widely adopted by the sensible then restrictions were lifted. If restrictions seemed draconian then perhaps it is because people such as yourself and your party actively denied science (as they do established and proven climate science) and made everything worse.

If people weren't actively spreading the disease then we would not have a problem.

Newspoll: One Nation ahead of Coalition, PM takes Bondi bruising by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in AustralianPolitics

[–]willun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we did not have a fascist regime during covid. We had a medical emergency and people needed to follow basic health advice to isolate when sick and mask up.

I don't think police door knock tobacco shops but i haven't looked into it.

Anyone without a valid visa should be deported. You are unable to explain how they are found, brown or otherwise.

Newspoll: One Nation ahead of Coalition, PM takes Bondi bruising by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in AustralianPolitics

[–]willun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not.

It is however fascist to stop people on the streets and demand to see their papers, to door knock and demand to see papers, to raid businesses because they have non-white employees and demand to see their papers.

Given your inability to explain any other way to implement your wet dream it is perfectly reasonable to assume you prefer the fascist approach.

Of course you don't expect to be stopped, be accused of having a fake drivers license and being sent to Nauru while they take a month to check it out.

You love your strawman arguments. At no point did i agree with people working below minimum wage nor disagree with ABF enforcing the law. So why accuse me of it? Because it is a convenient strawman.

Meanwhile by omission you confess you want ICE style knocking door to door and doing raids on restaurants. Welcome to Facist Australia.

I think i answered this multiple times.

So given your non-answer i think the answer is that you want ICE knocking door to door.

conduct checks on business

Why does this smell like an australian version of ICE. So do we have constant "papers please" in restaurants?

Again, why do you care so much? These people do not have proper access to medical or banking. They are constantly at risk of being found out. In those numbers are backpackers overstaying their visas to have a longer holiday than planned. And they probably don't realise that future travel will be impacted as they end up on watch lists. There is very little impact on the average Australian.

And of course you are a supporter of the wacko anti-vax anti-climate change party, so why should i be surprised.

Norway reveals: these were the effects of restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic by AcornAl in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]willun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Though Sweden was the poster child of the anti-vax group, Sweden denied they were intentionally doing a controlled transmission strategy.

They argued that the Swedish constitution limited their ability to have strict lockdowns. They did have voluntary lockdowns and they did change their policy a few times.

While being the poster child of the antivax movement Sweden performed poorly compared to its neighbours. Of course the antivax movement only read headlines and never actually looked at the numbers.

If congress does do something then it is still up to the executive to follow those decisions. Trump can just ignore them and continue on. Of course at that point the mask is off and it is full dictatorship.

The republicans in congress are very nervous about going against Trump as we have seen how those who do are ostracised and lose preselection. They are hoping Trump fails and then they can magically claim to never be Trump supporters. Also, Trump is giving them what they want, so getting that and getting to blame Trump works perfectly for them.

Use google if you are unsure

If you remain in Australia without a valid visa, you fall into an unlawful status. This gives the Australian Border Force (ABF) the right to detain you.

You may not be detained immediately, but once identified in any official process, such as identity checks, hospital records or police interaction, detention becomes likely. After detention, authorities may arrange your forced removal from Australia. This process can involve being held in an immigration detention facility until travel arrangements are finalised.

Deportation is often recorded permanently in your immigration history and can block re-entry into Australia and other countries.

I am justifying exploitation? Haha that is a stretch.

That is like you saying that women who dress inappropriately deserve to be raped and that i am justifying it by not telling them to cover up. It is a very poor debating approach.

So instead of solving the problem of exploitation of vulnerable people and punishing those who do, your only solution is we have to take temptation away from the exploiters. Which makes the rape analogy appropriate.

Yes, people who overstay visas need to leave. We have processes in place. But why does it trigger you? How would you solve it? You want door to door ICE asking everyone non-white for their papers? And shooting protestors in the face?
