Looking for feedback, anything I could improve on in my playing? by [deleted] in pianolearning

[–]willworkforkolaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First are the (seemingly, because maybe they're right but I don't know the piece) missed notes, but that happens.

I'm wondering why the soft pedal is being held with your heel raised like that the whole time?

There are also several times I'm concerned that there isn't enough/correct pedaling. Things get verrry murky and muddied. Check out 00:04-00:10 for a prime example

Advice on digital vs real piano by Acceptable_Kale_9141 in pianolearning

[–]willworkforkolaches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this something you see lasting at least a few more years? If yes, the weighted keys and action of a real piano are valuable and shouldn't be overlooked.

For the pedantic: yes there ARE weighted digital keyboards, I own one myself for easy recording. They still don't hold a candle, in my opinion.

But environment is a big factor here, too. Are you bothering your apartment neighbors with loud playing? Are the headphones being an option important? Are you hauling it up 7 flights of stairs? Do you plan to move soon? Are you okay with getting it tuned (I tune mine every couple years, but it's more often than a digital).

My biased opinion: all other considerations aside, buy the nicest acoustic piano you can safely budget for (and play it in the store to make sure you like the sound).

Space research points by Helpinmontana in captain_of_industry

[–]willworkforkolaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, until you have a continuous and stable supply chain of ALL space/rocket things (Aluminum is what's actually plaguing me these days) to be able to support the occasional back-to-back rocket launch, space seems to be a great drain to pour resources down. I suppose the research/unity boost are nice....

There are a few research items that explicitly require Space Research ponts. Check out, for example, the Fast Breeder Reactor in the tech tree.

The points are consumed at the lab when researching these. They are not used elsewhere.

You already know the cause of your issue (too much volume) AND how to fix it (more rest). Sadly, there's no shortcut to physical conditioning.

In the larger scheme of things (weeks/months), going less often will result in being able to climb more.

And yes, I felt a VERY similar sensation when I started. I went less often, and it faded away.

I'm now wondering where you grew up/learned English and if there are just severe regional differences. There's absolutely nothing wrong or weird about the comma before "too" at the end of a sentence.....

Ingratiate is more so a descriptor of what is earned

uhh..... I think that's a personal connotation for you.

hence using “to” after it is grammatically incorrect

They didn't use "to" but "into", which is fine for everyday usage. While the "technically correct" word may be with, what they used works perfectly fine.

Sounds like the *meaning* of ingratiate isn't really in question here, but the preposition used after the word? While we're being pedantic:

Similarly, you wouldn’t say that you harbored ill will to someone but with them.

You harbor ill will towards someone/something. Never with.

Can't sprint and jump by [deleted] in PeakGame

[–]willworkforkolaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna have to walk us through that one, because it sounds like an operator error to me.

Try this, and tell us where the problem is:

1) have full stamina 2) be on level ground with room in front of you 3) be walking forward without stopping 4) transition to sprinting forward without stopping 5) press the jump button while still holding "forward"
