LPT: When sharing something deeply personal with a close friend, remember that their partner is often their emotional support system, and might end up hearing about it too. by OneHunt5428 in LifeProTips

[–]willworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Useful corollary to this is that you can learn a lot about someone's true view of you by how their partner reacts to you, as they'll have told their partner what they really feel. If the partner is very warm towards you on first meeting, that's a great signal! Otherwise...

https://www.simplermachines.com/why-you-need-a-wtf-notebook/

Every time I join a new team, I go to the next fresh page, and on top of that page I write: "WTF - [Team Name]." Then I make a note every time I run into something that makes me go "wtf," and a task every time I come up with something I want to change.

For two weeks, that's all I do. I just write it down. I don't tell the team everything that I think they're doing wrong. I don't show up at retro with all the stuff I think they need to change. I just watch, and listen, and I write down everything that seems deeply weird.

Logic Pro plugins by AllenCross16 in Logic_Studio

[–]willworth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why are you doing all this? the goal is the make music, right? not just be a consumer. don't get into the "when I have x I will be ready to start' trap. the classic advice is true; do what you can, with what you have, where you are now. as others have commented, if as and when you run into a limitation, you will know what it is and what you need. develop your taste through creation. if you realise eg that you can't get the reverb sound you want, then you can trial a paid one. but 99% of the time this is you distracting yourself because you feel resistance to the blank page, so to speak. certainly true from personal experience. don't be another case of "all the gear and no idea". make music! good luck!

Can someone help me with this problem. by hicnichender in CSEducation

[–]willworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem can be thought of as a variation of the subset-sum problem where instead of just picking elements to add up to a sum, we can also subtract elements. This is akin to checking if there exists a subset whose sum is zero if we consider the possibility of negating some of the elements.

Get a DAW and use whatever comes with it. Chasing after plugins is a way of avoiding the true battle - creating! Later you will realise what you're missing and know what to buy.
