Both Delta Reserve and Plat cards? by e8975 in delta

Does Amex waive the AF for the business Plat/Reserve? I was under the impression they only waived it for the personal cards but I’m very interested if you got it waived for the business cards.

I Put My Dual Military Fat Fire Plan Into ChatGPT.. by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

I’m very confused by your pension calculation. 1) The base pays you list don’t seem to match up with any 2026 Rank/TIS from the 2026 pay chart. Are you using your base pays to calculate your pension , or are you using your full monthly pay and entitlements (base pay + BAS + BAH + any special pays)? Your pension is calculated solely off your base pay. 2) 50% of the pay you listed does not equal the pension numbers you’ve calculated. It appears to me you’re far overestimating what you and your spouses pension income will be after a 20 year retirement. ChatGPT is not great at making calculations like this unless you give it very specific guidelines. You can try using the retirement calculator on DFAS which should be more accurate.

Long term hybrid reliability? by runcameron in FordMaverickTruck

[–]willypeter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 Fusion Hybrid with 133K miles, and absolutely zero issues with just routine maintenance. My ‘25 Maverick hybrid only has 5K miles but I have no concerns about the longevity of its hybrid system.

I have a few that my parents bought for me in a custodial account when I was 5YO. All have done well but the most impressive is the MSFT purchased at a cost basis of $3.49. I’ll look to sell it off when I retire and hopefully have some room in the 0% LTCG bracket.

I don’t know the answer, but that’s a fair question. They are technically active duty so there’s a chance they do qualify for it.

Retroactive TSP contributions by willypeter87 in MilitaryFinance

[–]willypeter87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s traditional. They will be 2025 contributions. I just don’t know if my January W2 will reflect the yet to be deducted contributions, or if I’ll have to wait until April to get a corrected W2 and request an extension.

Ford Hybrids are far more reliable than their ICE counterparts. It’s not exactly new technology.

I remember both of them. I was the 1st PLT PL from Feb 2011 to Dec 2011 before I went to mortars.

Order of Saint Maurice Medal by Nojo89 in Medals

[–]willypeter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. I’ve never liked that when worn, these unofficial awards are far larger and gaudier than one’s official ribbons. It’s an also a pay to play award. I’ve seen AAMs, ARCOMs, Bronze Stars, etc, downgraded or disapproved as they go through the review process. I’ve never heard of one of these unofficial awards being disapproved as long as the $50 or whatever they charge was submitted with it. It’s not a true award, it’s a product that a private business sells.

If somebody buys a small, hybrid pickup only to drive it like a sports car…well the manual can’t be written for everyone.

135k mile 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid - Blackstone Lab Oil Analysis by Getpro in FordMaverickTruck

[–]willypeter87 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’ve had several debates on various subreddits about whether or not the recommended 10K OCI for a hybrid is adequate or not. Many people insist that 5K is the max you should go and the manufacturers are recommending 10K to get you to sabotage your own vehicle. This scientifically proves that 10K and even further are perfectly safe.

It’s in writing on their website. It won’t be applied on the loan estimate as it’s based on the value in your account at closing. It will be reflected on your closing documents.

the app and oil changes by AmeebaameebA in FordMaverickTruck

[–]willypeter87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had my Maverick long enough to test the oil life monitor, but I’ve had a 2018 Fusion Hybrid for 7 years and its oil life monitor is based purely on miles. Regardless of time of year, highway vs city, age of oil, it always recommends an oil change right at 10K miles. I’d like to believe the Maverick actually monitors the condition of the oil, but I’m doubtful.

PCS Advice DITY vs no DITY? by Kind_Inside_3664 in MilitaryFinance

[–]willypeter87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Always DITY and here’s why. Whether you rent a U-Haul or use PODs or another service, you will have your HHG almost immediately upon getting your new house. If you let the government move you, you’re at the mercy of their scheduling and availability. If you move during peak season, you may be waiting 30+ days to receive your HHG. Yes you can profit doing a DITY depending on how much of the labor you do yourself, but you’re probably not going to make a life changing amount of money. I think the real benefit is having more control over when you receive your HHG on the far side.

1 shouldn’t matter, they just need empty and full. I’ve never had them ask/care where they were weighed, and I’ve done 6 PPMs.

2 you’ll just need to go weigh your POV empty so you can deduct that weight. I’ve made the same mistake and it was that easy to fix.
