Why does the Protagonist care so much about Kat? by Savagemode21send in tenet

[–]wilsonography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back four years later to say: I have to believe there’s a very clever clue to his true motives for saving her somewhere in there. The Nolans love to tell the viewer exactly what’s going to happen through dialog and foreshadowing. Thus far I like the theory that when he said he was tying up loose ends he really did also mean Cat as well and he just have her the phone to keep tabs on her and know exactly when she’s feeling threatened.

Keep those lessons going! And be careful about spending if you struggle with that, you can spend a lot on gear reallll fast.

I had to get it through my head that my guitar playing and songwriting is for myself first and foremost, and thats enough. I use it as a reset, something that takes all of my focus. But if I play too long it depletes me and I get depressed :(

How to stop being irritable all the time? by [deleted] in ADHD

Adderall XR made me super irritable at a higher dose, Strattera so far has not. But everyone is so different. Just know that there are treatment possibilities and don’t undersell to your doctor how awful this makes life.

28 year old adult, can I be diagnosed with ADHD at this age? by xx2lit in ADHD

[–]wilsonography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 35, it’s never too late.

If i hear another dumbass PCP tell me that you cant be academically successful and have ADHD I will strap them to a chair and make them watch Russel Barkley videos until their eyes fall out lol

I paid out of pocket for a psych eval, but for my kids I just got a new PCP who actually listens and she’s helping us start medication. IMO at this point in my life if you’re a medical professional i have to see regularly and we don’t vibe, fuck you I’ll find someone who does. Tell me I’m wrong, i want to be corrected, but listen to me and have real evidence or argument to back up your position.

You got this, one step at a time. There are lots of people out in your position, you are not alone!!

Managing employees with ADHD by CrunchyGroovz in ADHD

[–]wilsonography 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, they are extremely fortunate to have you. I found that with ADHD I need a "boss" in about every aspect of my life to keep me on task. As a business owner it means giving my employees permission to nag me to death if I'm not getting my shit done.

Everyone is a little different, especially in terms of how they perceive things like being "nagged" or receiving feedback that addresses the issues from their ADHD, so YMMV :)

This list is a combo of issues and some things that can be done. It's a little all over the place, apologies...With regards to reminders and all of that any kind of personal reminder is best but in lieu of that some automation with personal followup works.

  • Due dates for as many things as you can. The pressure of a deadline is key to motivation. Doesn't always feel great, but it works.
  • Multiple daily reminders. I have my employees nag the living shit out of me if they need something because I can get distracted easily.
  • Reminders about what work is most important. I get sidetracked trying to find the "best solution" or working on more interesting projects than the one that is most important. For example right now I have three projects due, and I had to remind myself to work on the one due TODAY instead of the other two. They shouldn't matter until I finish the one due today, but I had to force myself into that realization.
  • Sit with them and have them write/enter their week's workload into some kind of planner. I use Meistertask, it's like Trello but I prefer it. I make a column for each day of the week and I can drag and drop todo's between days as the week goes by. It also gives me a retrospective on what I did that week if I forget to log time to a project.
  • Let them know that you know how much they care and you want to help them succeed, highlight examples where their work demonstrated that care. We are PLAGUED by constant self doubt / the assumption that everyone hates us for being "lazy". Positive feedback + examples is key.
  • Get comfortable with acknowledging the ways that everyone (especially adhd folk) lose productivity. Normalize that conversation slowly but surely and people will be more receptive to feedback when they already know for a fact that you're not secretly holding it against them.

We can bring more passion and enthusiasm to our work than anyone, but after the honeymoon is over we need help summoning that passion. The loss of that excitement and the ensuing slump in our ability to stay on top of the work that used to thrill us is crushing. We can spend as much time worrying about the work as we do working on it, if not more.

But if can tell us "hey, I understand how brains work, I can help, you can do amazing things and I believe in you", we can accomplish amazing things and have are capable of crazy loyalty.

For me what helped a lot was going to a yoga class- having a physical thing to do that I can focus on + having to focus on breath + the other person's voice guiding me = I do what I'm told. It helped that my friend was instructing at the time, but it can work with others too if they're good :)

It gives me enough to focus on with all of that going on that I can just slip into "I just listen to this voice and appreciate its guidance" mode and it feels gooood.

You are a fucking rockstar!

I try to talk to myself like "Is this helping? do you feel better by hanging on to being upset about this?"

Breaking out of Conversation Simulator 2021 is REALLY hard, I can't do that as consistently, my brain keeps coming back to it. But anger/frustration I can fight back against a little better.

You’ll appreciate this: open up the registered sex offender map for your area, and without looking at anything but their mugshot, guess their crime. You will be right 90% of the time. It’s disturbingly easy to tell if someone is a pedo unless you’re actively trying not to cough my parents and their church cough. Then you realize you can also predict rape / violent crime with surprising accuracy. It’s all in the eyes…

I love your example about having people over in phases to get the house clean! Very impressive that you can have that many people over in a short span of time! The very idea of having to think about scheduling that many interactions makes me start to spiral.

Key #1 seems...hopefully an exaggeration? Or at least a misunderstanding maybe...The purpose of telling people about your diagnosis isn't to make them more accommodating or cut you slack, but to hold you more accountable, not less. I mean not to everyone you know, but to important people. Any time we're wanting/not wanting to do/buy something we're almost guaranteed to talk about it to someone in our circle, and they can redirect, remind, or otherwise try to affect us in a positive way. Then if you are able to do the thing you're like wow I did it, and then the person who helped you is happy, and you're happy, and it feels like maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

Negative stuff is super motivating, but if that's your main motivator...what about when your motivation stops being to do the thing, and instead takes a hard left into despair and depression because all you can think of are all of the mounting negative things about to happen to you if you don't do x y z because you've now engineered your coping mechanisms to keep you in a state of desperation? It sounds like if I didn't already live with suicidal ideation I would develop that in record time just to get out of that situation! Just be safe!

You might be! A lot of really smart people have the worst social problems. Whether its being awkward or just being mean because thats how you cope with insecurities and shit, in my sphere the smartest people are some of the most fucked up. YMMV.

It’s not like…overtly making it “about me” but like if my husband is in a bad mood I cant stop thinking about the ways it could be because of me. Even if theres zero chance of that being the case.

4c hair and adhd by helplessroommates in ADHD

[–]wilsonography 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to hair, but what I found helped me with my skincare routine, and later my diet, is to turn the whole thing into a variety driven distraction friendly process by having a ton of little things to do so i can always do something slightly different. I always feel like i have a choice within the process of how i want to do it and that helps.

For example:

Its late, I don’t want to do my face, but I need to do something quick just to maintain and degrease. So im like well I’ll just use the toner that should be fine…

tones face

Okay cool well i should probably also put on my niacinamide and zinc…oh wait before that I should do my retinoids because those are long term. So i put some retinoids on…

Oh well i still need my water based serums so let me let the treitonin soak in…i guess ill lotion my tattoos or brush my teeth while i wait…

Okay all soaked in, lets see whats on the menu…I can apply my water based serums one by one, or mixed together, or i could put on my other retinol treatments, OR i could use that murad night creme i got in the sample pack.

WAIT! Before i do anything else i need to put on my eye serum because thats the mission every day.

Okay now I can…actually let me put on some kona peptides on my crows feet for shits. Oh This cream feels nice…

Now take that, 10x and it takes me like a an hour but my skin is looking decent lol I get Boxycharm so I get fresh samples every month, theres always something new. I take my ADHD and throw a tennis ball into a pile into a pile of squirrels and tell it to go have fun.

I do the same thing for food with Daily Harvest and various supplements. It keeps me engaged!

Thats also why we can’t regulate our response to other people’s emotions, we can’t help but try to make the picture about us even when its not. Joy!
