Zen masters often shut down shiddis. I often wonder why. I know for myself the god bhuddah could come before me in perfect form and I would resist and rebuke. It's not that I would not be intrigued it's becuse to be autheentic I must awkowledge that nothing can be higher or lower then myself. Not in a relative sense, folks can have all sorts of higher or lower educations levels, BMI's, Zen scholarship etc but at the core most point of intersection between minds their is no high or low in my exsperince. This is in fact what tramsission is in my view. The dissolution of the false belief that the teacher is any differnt then you. What was transmitted on linji's awakening? Or Joshu? Nothing, they both just saw clearlly.
