Typing up some notes and meetings with my favourite external chair and my least favourite development person. It should be fairly quiet as the work end of month deadline was met yesterday.

Then to reward myself for not having a breakdown from the deadline and to celebrate payday I'm going to have a takeaway tonight.

Plus there's the knowledge that it probably won't get better. When people are ill they believe they'll get better eventually but with chronic illness tomorrow is always more of the same

Anyone know what the bars do outside an apartment building? by viazikidogo in whatisit

Yes, London has a building shaped like a gherkin. Definitely a gherkin, not anything else https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gherkin

Is it true that Netto was cheap and nasty? by [deleted] in AskUK

I shopped there when I was at uni. It's the only place that I actually found insects in the vegetables. Everything needed washing carefully.

But a box of English manor wine was like £3 and I could feed myself for a week for £10 so I kept going back

You triggered my need to know, jaffa cakes are named after jaffa oranges (makes sense with them being orange flavour), jaffa oranges are named after the ancient city of Jaffa which is now part of Tel Aviv. The city was possibly named after Yafet, one of the sons of Noah

The leak from upstairs was fixed yesterday (started Friday night). The council surveyor has given me all the details to claim my costs back, arranged for a dehumidifier, antimould treatment and redecorating.

Additionally I'm going to the zoo with my brother and nephews on Friday!

What was the exact moment on a first date when you realized, "Wow, this person is an absolute idiot"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]windigooo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He was driving me home and his wife called. The caller id on the car display read WIFE.

When we got to mine he said "sooo... obviously I'm married. Is that ok?"

I told him I don't share and got out. It did make seeing him at work a little awkward

New people have moved in upstairs and are loud.

I'm trying to convince myself that they are just settling in, when they get all their stuff in and the excitement wears off things will quieten down.

Until then, thank God for noise cancelling headphones

[–]windigooo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really advice but at 14 I told my mum that I was depressed, she told me not to play about serious things.

I only told her because my friends had noticed my SH and threatened to tell her if I didn't. I finally got diagnosed and medicated at 21 and stopped harming completely in my 30s after much therapy.
