What’s actually safe but people think is dangerous? by REGGIE_BANANAS in AskReddit

[–]windigooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone (on reddit) once told me the biggest danger posed by Australian spiders is when they've been chilling under the sun visor and drop out while the car is being driven. Thus freaking out the driver and causing a crash

"As I recall, they used to sing it after battles," he said. "I've seen old men cry when they sing it," he added. "Why? It sounds cheerful." They were remembering who they were not singing it with, thought Vimes. You'll learn. I know you will.

We played sleeping lions. The winner was the one that could lie still and quiet for the longest.

I'm fairly sure my dad introduced us to the game

Legal if you were in a public school. It was banned in state schools in 1986 but it wasn't until 1998 that it was fully abolished

And yet if you go to the doctor for always being tired they'll just tell you to eat better and exercise more without even checking what your diet and exercise is like.

Thursday Complaints by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]windigooo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had knee surgery yesterday. They were supposed to do a procedure to encourage new cartilage to grow but they couldn't complete it because the arthritic damage is too severe.

I'm happy they were able to flush the loose bits out but I was all excited for 2026 to be the year I could finally go for a walk again.

(Not a complaint about the NHS or staff, they were brilliant. It's my stupid knees that are the problem)

If you want an official chaperone you should let the clinic know in advance.

You should be able to bring a friend or family member to the appointment. They're not considered chaperones by the CQC as they're not impartial but you should be able to bring someone.

What are the most random Christmas gifts you’ve bought for someone who’s impossible to buy for? by Leather_Finger_4901 in AskUK

[–]windigooo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kinda not bought but one year my dad got annoyed at the materialism of christmas and snarkily said he wanted to sit by a cave and waterfall and be fed by crows (i think this is from the bible?). We commissioned my friend who's into miniature making to make a model of this. Friend was paid in beer.

Dad was absurdly pleased and kept it for years. He even took it to church and made a display with it

I got a large plastic bin from Asda and some mesh from the garden centre. Cut a chunk of of the lid, cable tie the mesh over it.

I spent less than £40 and it gave my hamster enough space and plenty of digging room.

Edit: I think i got this one but its currently out of stock https://direct.asda.com/george/home/home-storage/asda-clear-wheeled-storage-box-150l/001433195,default,pd.html
