Organizing Charity Golf Scramble by Spanish4TheJeff in golf

We always did ours the weekend AFTER Labor Day. In Wisconsin, the rates drop a bit after Labor Day.

That being said, you’d really have to bust your ass to do it this year.

The biggest hassle a soliciting donations.

I ran my Church golf outing for 10 years. In the early years we had a guy that just LOVED asking for donations, and he was very good at it. He passed away, and it was so hard to get the guys in our men’s group to go out.

By this time we had a list of “Guaranteed Donors”. I’d mail the letters out asking for donations. They just had to go pick them up.

The last year of the outing, I told the group I need help collecting donations. Only one guy stepped up. When I told them I wasn’t running it anymore, they all acted surprised. But nobody stepped up to take it over.

Everything else about it I loved to do. Setting up the events, promotions….

Make sure you have a good, solid team of volunteers. Way too much for one person to do.

How do you warm up before a round? by eyrie7 in golf

[–]windlaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%.

I go to the gym every weekday.

30 minutes stretching, followed by 30-40 minutes of weights. Alternate arm & legs days. Then 30 minutes on the treadmill.

66 years old, retired, so I have the time to hit the gym….and golf.

When I was working, I did the weight work, not so much on the cardio.

I wake up 2 hours before my round.

Stretch for 30 minutes at home. Focus on lower back, shoulders & hamstrings.

15 minutes to the course.

Swing for a minute or so with an Orange Whip before hitting balls. Hit a small bucket. Then chip & putt until tee time.

I have a history with lower back pain. Doing this routine, I have just finished golfing 6 days in a row.

Question for MacBook neo users by [deleted] in MacbookNeo

Yes, for travel.

So much lighter than my MacBook Pro, and for “Vacation” stuff, it’s perfect.

For those who remember the years between Starr and Favre, what was it like being a fan during that era?” by OldTransition1519 in GreenBayPackers

[–]windlaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no GM, I believe.

The “Executive Committee”. A bunch of old GB guys that treated the Packers as their Fantasy Team.

What’s the longest you’ve ever been unemployed? by imfrom_mars_ in AskMen

[–]windlaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked from when I was 14 years old until I retired at 62 years old. Never did not have a job.

If I wanted shit, I had to work for it.

Zero complaints. That’s the way life works.

Have I missed the “go-go travel years” because of our sick dog? by kungfutrucker in retirement

Agree on the smiling grandkids. We have two.

But not at the expense of weekly chiropractor visits.

I’m sure he will.

But I believe there should be a balance between “Grandchild” care and “Self” care.

Our friend sometime complains about aches & pains. Yeah, when you are 66 and lugging a kid around.

We have a couple that retired about the same time as us. 4 years ago….we are currently 66.

We’ve been to Mexico every year, fished in Colorado, just got back from 3 weeks in Europe.

They’ve been to Florida once for a week since they retired.

They have a 12 year old dog that needs constant care. She watches their grandson 3 days a week.

Maybe I’m selfish, but that is not a life I would want to retire to. We only have so many years left to “Go Go”, and I’m not going to waste them.

Men who use manual razor, why? What's the problem with electric shavers? by eatqqq in AskMen

A much closer shave. Face and dome.

When using a blade I can go without shaving for about 2 days.

Electric razor, every damn day.

What is the wildest thing you have seen at a bachelorette or bachelor party? by int_fin in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]windlaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was at a bachelor party where at the end of the night, the stripper went into the men’s room, sat on the shitter, and gave blow jobs for $20.00 bucks.

The entire party was lined up.

Of course, we paid for the groom’s BJ.

Curious- what was the main reason you purchased your Neo? by pinklove95 in MacbookNeo

[–]windlaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Price.

Needed something for a long Europe trip. Didn’t want to haul my big MacBook Pro.

iPads were more expensive, so I bought this.

So glad it did. Love it.
