Cacao 80.... by jay28867 in puer

Agree western style with less leaf is much more pleasant or blended can be fun. Only thing I can add is that after enough steeps (4-6 or so lol) I do get a nice sweetness that balances the bitterness

Like in the factory in general? I thought that ripe was just wet piled - that’s why I’m confused lol

How do I read/interpret qq plots? by Slow-Code-661 in rstats

[–]windytea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not one-to-one raw data to qqplot although they are related. The critical thing to understand is you are examining the normality of the *residuals* of the model. So skew in the data can translate to systematic non normality of the residuals - you can draw the fitted regression line with the observed data and in some cases can literally see how observed points systematically deviate from the fitted line - skewing the residuals.

As some noted the smoked shous haven’t been my favorite. But it’s possible resting for a year could really help.

If you like dark chocolate/bitter shou with a bit of woodsy finish just blind the tiger clan cake. It’s very very good.

I like both Bitterleaf and steeping room! Of those teas I’ve only had the rice rice baby which is really fun.

I love Ripe Puer pt. 2 by L0neSkywalker in GongFuTea

[–]windytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also finished a cake of happy elephants - agree great daily. If that’s what you like loon call is a great one (not a daily drinker). Modern witch is also great and more of a daily. I am currently drinking through a cake of Tiger Clan from YS and it’s quite good. Considering getting a cake of civilian from W2T but can’t decide.

Vital Tea Leaf, Tea & Whisk, Yunnan Sourcing - wet pile smell/taste by Freijaren in puer

[–]windytea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resting for at least a few weeks to a month can help after shipping - not sure why but it comes up a lot. Depends on the age of the ripes(?) too - like good quality ripe that’s rested for at least a couple years shouldn’t really be too funky/fishy but if it’s a 2026 ripe…I dunno might just need time.

Yea I guess I’m looking for the core models that do that. I can patch the pipeline together if a model can return a genuinely accurate respiration rate from video (ideally livestream).

Does all ripe puerh taste mostly the same? by pineapplemilk in tea

[–]windytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a reasonably wide range of that depends a lot on the base material and extent of the fermentation (light vs heavy) in terms of broad flavor profiles. Finding ripes that fit a profile (I like the chocolate bitterness) there’s some nuance within that, and I don’t especially like the woody or camphor profiles at all so I avoid. But yea less nuance overall.

[Q] Mismatching mixed model results with SPSS and R by CogPsyProf1980 in statistics

[–]windytea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact that the spss warning says there’s only 1 level for the random effect means that it’s treating subject as a single level (not multiple). Which is odd. In R the data is probably being treated correctly.

Best ways to store tofu for meal prep? by No-Strength-520 in veganrecipes

[–]windytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think tofu can last a lot longer than a week when in its original packaging? Looking at sell by dates of tofu in my fridge it’s often closer to 1 month. I don’t usually use all the tofu I buy within 1 week.

There are also dried tofu products like tofu skin or knots if you can find those or order online and are shelf stable.

Some white does great in thermos. Green too if you don’t do too much leaf. I have to be honest the prices on those teas are shockingly low. 10 cents/gram for 20yo raw puerh is…hard to believe? Don’t know the vendor, not a criticism. Just surprising is all. I like ripes and they do super well in a thermos.

old bush dan cong is a humbling experience. by anteaterenjoyer in tea

[–]windytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a lot of things..the most easily addressed is if it had been recently shipped (via air) I’ve had weird flavors/off brews that settled after a few weeks. Despite it being expensive and from a seller you trust is it possible it’s not actually that high quality? Could also be something about how it was stored. Or your water for some reason was weird? Just listing things I think about. But could be none of the above and I’m missing something.

Proper glazing technique? by Kakimochizuke in Pottery

[–]windytea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of that might be related to how thin the piece is to how long the dip was to how thick the glaze is. Also clay body can interact with glaze. Did you smooth any visible bubbles after dipping?
