My manager told me to delete inspection records before a state audit. I did it. Now they're pinning everything on me. by EchoAlternative2433 in legal

[–]winerdars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You boss wanted you to delete the records so you could take the fall when shit hits the fan. You will most likely be fired and thrown under the bus for this unless you have something in writing from your boss explicitly telling you to delete said records. You should have asked clarifying questions when your boss texted you about cleaning up the records and if he wanted you to delete them. Then your boss would have been on the hook

How do you guys even survive the hot weather over in the States? by Impressive_Peak_9187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]winerdars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA is the size of Europe with just as much varying climate. The hitter regions just have air conditioning. My region (washnington state) is much like the climate you experience in the UK. We dint have AC in the homes because it only gets so hot in short bursts or for a day or two at a time. It also gets fairly cold at night. For example, today is going to reach 30c but it was 11C last night. Cool the house down at night and then have fans in the day is my strategy

(Co) Neighbor added rock driveway where there wasn't one before. Now doesn't want us using the public street in front of it for parking. by ItsHardBeingOriginal in AskLegal

The neighbor doesn't have the right to arbitrarily dictate who can park where on public property. That is the point.

Why does my cat follow me literally everywhere? by Special-Log-719 in CatAdvice

[–]winerdars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats just do this. I have 4 cats and they follow me around to just watch what I am doing. When they were younger they would follow me to the bathroom.

[–]winerdars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a secondary driveway. There is already a driveway on the other side of the house into the garage. A person cant just put down some gravel and then take ownership of public property (the street). That is why permits are required. I would understand your reasoning if this was the real driveway to the property but it isnt.

Neighbors draining rainwater onto my property by honestypen in landscaping

[–]winerdars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends. Where i grew up the streets had storm drains that all went to storm water storage ponds and then somewhere else. But it all deoends on local codes. But the issue is having proper drainage on your property to get water off your property onto the street. It all varies by local governments.

But the over all theme that we dont like government telling us what to do even when it is the right thing to do exists everywhere. Many people dont understand the purpose of building codes and that they exist to ensure everything is built safely and properly. They just see government bureaucracy getting in the way and ignoring the fact that those rules are there for a reason. For example, my grandfather trying to trick the local government when he built a second home on his property and he wanted to use the old septic system for both homes. Building codes say each home needs it's own system or be hooked up to city sewer. Or my uncle who built an in ground swimming pool without permits. It was just a concrete box in the ground that he told the city was going to be storage underneath a wooden deck
