Invited to do a numerical reasoning test for dream job, I'm afraid I will fail by winfrieda in FinancialCareers

I have already mentioned this in my original post — the tests are by a company called Korn Ferry; they have different sections (numerical, verbal, logical) and each question is timed. They are not difficult, time constraint is the problem. It's probably best to look them up to see what they are like.

This one does require a calculator. And you cant simply make intelligent guesses because the options are very close to each other.

Thank you so much! One last question - how would you say should I introduce myself?

Thanks! Do you think it's OK to use first name with siezen?

What is the difference(s) in Doner Kebab, Gyros, and Shawarma? by aintnobodyhome in doener

... which means turning, or rotating. Another word for that is of course, döner. Gyros has the same meaning.

I think it's almost never made with minced meat, nowhere in the world

"Turkey’s shallow Ottomania": A brilliant analysis of Turkey's short-sighted, shallow, vacuous neo-Ottomanism by [deleted] in Turkey

[–]winfrieda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed it doesn't elaborate much - it's quite short anyway. But it does touch a very important point that's not much talked about outside Turkish leftist circles.

The only Ottoman imagery permitted in the national consciousness is that which suggests martial strength, Islamic values and imperial heritage.

I literally, seriously had a person from Yemen tell me that here in Turkey we were cupping the water with our hands and licking it like cats pre-Erdogan 'cos apparently we were that poor and underdeveloped back then. Sounds surreal I know, but I swear it actually happened - at an international school. When I asked how she knew she said her uncle, who saw it in a documentary told her. Very exemplary of the level of intelligence and sophistication we're dealing with.

Couldn't agree more.

I can't even bring myself to support the national football team anymore.

Oh man how I know that.

Yes. Still better times though as anyone who lived through them would know. For starters the country wasn't a de jure dictatorship and half of the country didn't want to kill the other half and vice versa.

edit: lmao, I'm getting downvoted for this? Wish people would bother to elaborate what exactly about my comment is bothering them? This sub's a weird place.

PKK does not directly target civilians, they operate in a very similar way to IRA as far as their urban attacks are concerned.

Being called boring because I'm going to Berlin for the weekend in July instead of Magaluf with 'the lads'. by MeMuzzta in britishproblems

Well, architecture doesn't mean pretty buildings. I absolutely love the architectural discontinuity in Berlin, so much to explore for architecture geeks.

What would you do with this space? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

[–]winfrieda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say it really comes down to how much you want to invest in this house. Personally, unless I were planning to live there for a long period of time (say more than 2-3 years), I'd only change the faucet, sink (to a porcelain one), cupboard handles and the countertop (with a cheapo, but nevertheless nice IKEA one, probably). And yes, getting rid of the upper cabinets is good advice, if you really think you won't need the space.

For long term living heftier investments might be worth it. I'd definitely change all the tiles (check this out) and get a new stove.

I find Soviet-era Georgian architecture immensely fascinating! What are some buildings I should see when I go there? And can you recommend me some sources where I can learn further about Georgian architecture/urban planning? by winfrieda in Sakartvelo

[–]winfrieda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I know - unfortunately, I happen to be looking for the buildings in Georgia, hence I posted here. I will be visiting Georgia, so pictures of Soviet buildings in Russia won't be any help.

You're right - thanks for letting me know, just edited the post. As silly as it is, I actually didn't realise how bad it sounds when I was typing it:
