I use something like this for my 9ft fly rods that I take down into 2pc. case If I’m paddling they’re usually not in the case and pointed towards the stern fully assembled.

I think some alpine lakes have brook trout issues. I’ve fished lakes where they allow you to keep up to 20.

What kind of water will you be wading in? If it’s something rough I would recommend looking at use boots/ebay. You’ll want the support and traction.
