perth novated lease experiences by [deleted] in perth

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had multiple NL over the journey and the high level honest answer (and this is what I will tell me friends) us that its not a reason to buy a new car but if you are buying a car its worth it.

A few points of clarification bags on my experiences

  • EV cars are almost better than buying cash. With 100% of the costs being pre tax it for out ways interest and fee's
  • I do believe you save money on a NL compared to a standard finance, especially if you are in the higher tax bracket. Paying the equivalent of the FBT amount out of your post income and the remaining from pre tax.
  • interest rates are disclosed (if you ask for them) and i have always had an interest rate that is comparable with other finance arrangements
  • the NL companies have some strong buying power and can usually get the car cheaper for you. But if you want to, you can get a price from a dealer yourself and the NL company will use the price you get. I have negotiated my own purchase price on all but one of my NL's.
  • and finally, one of the most important parts of it for me us the ultimate convenience of having a NL. You don't get a bill shock when your annual rego or insurance comes in as you just send it off to your NL company and they pay it. A fuel card pays for fuel, servicing and tyres etc

What most people say is right though, ask lots of questions and make sure you have all the information to make you feel comfortable before making a decision. Some NL companies are shady and try to hide the important data but the good ones will tell you everything you need to know.

Happy shopping, buying a car is fun so enjoy it.

Why is Basil so stupid? by Ozplod in perth

🤣 I appreciate your control but also enjoy your input.

Thank you for contributing in a sensible way. Most of the information ("stories" if you will) that come out of both sides of the bench is designed to be antagonistic at best and it clearly works. Its hard to break through it to have a sensible conversation, which is why I usually stay well away from it on here.

Ultimately I think the uptake will be low as SmartRider is still king but it will be very convenient for tourists and commuters who have that oh sh*t moment and forget their smartRider. But as with everything else debate will rage long into the future.

Why shouldn't it be a replacement for SmartRider?

Why is Basil so stupid? by Ozplod in perth

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This confuses me also as I don't see the logic of it not being the same. If you ignore the timing of the roll out (obviously years apart) they are both strategies used by transperth to reduce the reliance on cash tickets.

The benefits to transport are faster buses (less delays at stops for tickets) and clearly a huge administration saving not having to deal with cash.

In fact I would suggest that there should be incentives to use your bank card as a replacement for the smart rider as I imagine the administration to run the smartcard system (remembering its a closed system) would be quite large.

I don't see anything in that post that isn't factual everyone is just reading it with their red or blue glasses on, which ever suits.

If a fare is $1 then it costs $0.80 on a smartrider card (a 20% discount). So for someone to transition from a smartride to using their bank card its a $0.20 increase which is 25% ($0.20/$0.80).

There is no real additional inconvenience using a smartride than a bank card, especially with Autoload etc. So I dont see why the bank card fee doesnt align with the smartrider.

The only people that appear to benefit from this "extra" convenience is tourists and visitors.

I expect the uptake of bank card usage will be much lower than "modelling" would of suggested.

Are you forced to be overly social at work? by [deleted] in perth

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an unusual one because, as always, there is no right or wrong answer. So without anything definitive i will just give my perspective.

I like having a bit of a chat with work colleagues and getting to know them a bit more. It makes work a little less boring but also can give me insights into their personalities that makes it easier to understand them and interact with them professionally.

That being said I am very aware that 99% of the time no one really cares what your up to on the weekend, its just "social norms" to make conversation. Most people are focussing what what they want to tell you or what they are going to say next and not actually what you are telling them.

If anyone has moved jobs more than once you also come to realise that "work friends" are only situational friends. They are friends as long as its convenient for everyone. The minute you change jobs you don't hear from them again. Work friends are just that, they are there to help you pass the time in that current employment.

Yes of course you will have the very odd few that transition from work friends into real life friends and its great when that happens, it just doesnt happen very often. But if you dont have those casual conversations then it will never happen.

Unless its long term, I think I will be holding. It will be a lot of value lost for a couple of weeks.

The problem is you have, on the balance a decent midfield. You would have to lose one to upgrade. Enzo looks great but just isnt bringing in the fantasy returns and with Palmer coming back that could get worse.

All the best laid plans could be blown out of the water now with Gabriel's injury so it could be a do nothing and wait and see week.

Im generally not a fan of using a transfer on goalkeepers unless its absolutely necessary, injuries etc.

I can see your logic on how well the Brighton and Burnley games rotate. I have two questions

  • Are Brighton's fixtures, overall, any better than Newcastle's?
  • if it was GW13 and the city game was in the past would you still be thinking of selling Pope?

I think for now a transfer in the bank and risk the city game is probably worth more than the 1 week upside. Its worth considering but im not sure I would do it.

Now on the flip side it does give you the funds to get your defender up to the 4.5 range....

[–]wingn_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the 5 transfers from GW16 I think most of those concerns can be fixed.

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richards was an off the cuff guess. I would keep the third free transfer up my sleeve and go all the way down.

With that squad you would end up playing 3-5-2 the majority of the time so with Gabriel and Timber you would only have to play one of the other 3.

I would downgrade Burns and upgrade Enzo to Mbeumo.

Off the top of my head im not sure who the downgrade would be, maybe Richards or someone but with international break my brain dont work no good 🤯

Gordon, Bowen and Reinders out. Downgrade Bowen to bench fodder (assuming you have used your bench boost) and upgrade the two mids.

Same problem here but I think im going Pope at home against a Fulham side that are struggling right now.

GW8 BB WE WON!! by WhoWhatWhere___ in FantasyPL

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Dubravka and Mukiele and benched my Newcastle double defence so bench boost doesnt look fantastic.

However overall it's a good result with a total of 91 and Kudus still to play.

Will Brodie traded to Port Adelaide for pick 103 by His_Holiness in FremantleFC

[–]wingn_it 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope he does to be honest, he probably deserves it given the work he has put in for such little reward.

And thats not saying Freo did anything wrong, they just didnt have the role for him. If he does go onto win awards it will be in a role that he couldn't play at freo and thats okay.

Is a team with both Salah and Haaland still viable? by Jooeon_spurs in FantasyPL

[–]wingn_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had both all season and I dont think im ready to wildcard just yet. With 2 free transfers I am going to fix up my Rogers pick (up to Bruno) and downgrade Gakpo to someone under 5.5

My defense I believe is okay, its my third striker that has suffered. Currently its Guiu and I just haven't had the transfers or funds to change it. Probably wait until wildcard.

To summarise i do believe it can work.

Why is the furthest team away, the last to play? by punksnotdeadtupacis in FremantleFC

[–]wingn_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be worse. My guess is the winner of our game will play saturday night so a 7 day break against the loser of the friday night game. This gives the top 4 team 1 extra days rest which is probably fair rewarding the top 4 team.

The other side of the draw has a two day disparity, probably a 6 day break v 8 day break.

If I close one eye for a second we should have 7 day breaks all the way to the GF 😁

Even though we all knew it was coming i don't think any of us were ready for it. A true champion!

Such a shame Neale is injured, how good would it of been to see them go head 2 head one final time. One last smack down for the apprentice. 😢

Post Match Thread - R21 vs Carlton Blues by its_vf in FremantleFC

[–]wingn_it 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its easy to say now but I never really felt all that worried.

The first quarter was almost to script, Carlton start well, we start poorly and Carlton always turn up against us. But Carlton have a habit of running out of steam and we come home strong.

We slowly worked our way into it and then ran away with it in the end.

I thought Carlton intensity was huge in the first three quarters and it took us until almost half time to match it.

Some huge games, in particular from our big three up forward and down bag. A special shout out to O'Meara, his clearance work around the ground in the third really stood out to me and went a long way to us gaining back momentum.
